Clear coat and mettalic paint.

I am looking for any advice on clear coating bright chrome paint. Is there anything that will not dull the shininess of the paint? Does satin coat also dull the chrome paint? I suppose I can do a test but I thought I would see what some people would have for answers.

afaik satin is in between dull and gloss coat. I use a gloss spray coat (Krylon Colormaster Clear Gloss), and it seems to leave the underlying silver pretty glossy.

ANY clear coat will lessen the chrome effect... if you are doing boba though nothing is Chrome...its silver paint.

Alclad is meant to be metal like...and even their clear for their paint dulls the paint a bit.... Their clear though is pretty good at not dulling significantly the chrome paint.

Ah, thanks for clarifying!!!

And Im talking Chrome paint here...not say silver here...Chrome paint is kinda a special circumstance....Id use it on resin knee darts maybe...if you cant afford metal.

Thanks guys. It is for another project I am working on. Just trying to figure a way to protect the paint with a clear coat without dulling it too much.
