Seamstress List

Zam I Am

Well-Known Hunter
11/8/03-Hey fellowshippers! Just wanted to let you know what my seamstress has worked on. This is just a progress pic. There is LOTS of difficulties with the patterning because the neoprene, is really really tempermental to work with even at 1.5mm thickness. The pic you see will actually have a lower neckline. It will go to the collar bone. But everything else looks pretty sweet to me :D I just need the pants to get done. The pants that I have on now is a test pattern, she has already drafted it twice, but there is a welt seam in the middle of the pants that has thrown everything off, so she needs a re-draft. Hey, no jokes about the drafty pants please. All the marks on the pants are little notes, so don't worry about that :D Check it out here: http://www.geocities.com/zamwiam/Pattern_questions2.html?1053229769269

Secol's pics hosting wasn't working, but if they come back, here they are.

Actually that first post is old news but good for referencing...I deleted alot of other old posts.
I wanted to re-write this to accommodate the seamstress list peoples. Sorry for those who did not buy into the neoprene earlier, as this list is only for those who participated in the neoprene run back in April 2003.

Hopefully I'll be able to get her paid here soon.
I need to get in gear with this costume!! :)
I think we need to have something like 3 more members in our squad to keep our squadron status of the 501st, so this will count as 1 and there are some recruits I need to make sure are getting in gear also ;)

Does this mean she's ready for our measurments and payment? I can't recall ever getting a final total of what the patterns would be. :) (Lots of emails to go thru ;) )

11/19/03 Seamstress is not done with Lady Zam's or Rag's suit yet. She is having major family problems and hopefully will get certain things resolved so that they can be done by December. If there is a problem with this, please pm me. Those who are interested in paying for just patterns will probably have to wait until these two get their suits.

Here's the dealio crew! She's still trucking along at a very SLOWW pace, but still doing stuff. The reason why things are slow are because she thought that her computer program for size adjustments would work out to be better and a faster way to grade the patterns, but unfortunately, it's taken her some time to learn how to work it correctly. She has finally figured out Rags' and LadyZam's patterns and will be cutting into the neoprene soon. So, she wants to make sure she gets the 2 suits for Rags and LadyZam done first before people start sending her money for those left on the "seamstress list." :D

I still haven't sent in my money and measurements yet :)o  ), but I'm just getting a pattern done. Should I wait, or can I go ahead and send the stuff when I get paid next week?

I mean that for everyone, I think it's best that you hold off on the moolah, until Rags and Ladyzam get their suit done. Sorry cutest~ wish things could be a lot quicker, but grading patterns when everyone's body shape is different is really hard and time exhausting.

Thanks for the update ZIA!

Better for me in any case... both time and $$$ wise! So no worries from this Zammer either! :D

1/16/03 Saw her this morning, dropped off the Zam Comparison pics, I told her to make sure that the seam allowances were taken in on the patterns, if you notice, my pants are a bit big. And, my vest puffs out a little, so she is going to make sure the patterning reflects the corrections, then cut out Rags and LadyZam's neoprene pieces this week.

Thanx, I changed the one on the top of the page as you can see. I just haven't had time, to change em all..That's a really old pic. The patterns have changed 3 times since then...
Thanks for reminding me!

Hi Zam-

Thanks so much for the updates. I was beginning to wonder a little, but have been so busy lately with "real life" that I haven't worried too much about it. From what I've seen so far, it's impressive....very impressive. I'll be excited to finally get mine! :)

Yes, thanks for letting us know.
I'd better lock up my cash for the bodysuit so I will still have it when I can order ;)

Great news! I had a conversation on the phone with the seamstress today. She said that she got a new sewing machine that could handle the welting seams for the pants a LOT better. She broke 5 needles when she sewed mine, because the neoprene welt seam on the inseam panels were like sewing together a stack of 8 compacted pieces of neoprene. So, this new machine will be a remedy to that problem, because there is a extra attatchment to handle just that issue. She said my suit is really the first real completed prototype, because muslin tests did not use neoprene or leather at all. And the muslin didn't stretch like neoprene does. We decided to take out all the seam allowances in the pattern to make sure nothing was baggy anymore. In the Zam comparison shots, you can see where some parts were visibly more baggy. It looked good, but now it will be even more form fitting. The vest was also taken in so that there wouldn't be the same type of extra baggy-ness around the waist. So, the patterns were essentially re-done entirely again, which is great news that the accomodations were made. It should work extremely better for everyone. Great things will come to all of you who have been waiting for so long. Thank you for being SOOO patient. We applaud you all. And, yes, Lady Zam and Rags, she did not cut the neoprene on yours yet, in order to make sure all of these details were re-done on the patterns (yet again). But they will be cut pretty soon. I think she has had at least 4-5 full pattern revisions, and 3-4 muslin tests. Whew! I am losing count :D

Okay... so good things come to those who wait eh? :D

I'm glad she worked things out on the pattern and with the necessary attachment. Though I still think your "prototype" was pretty fantastic!

Thanks for the update. When will she be ready for the next round of suits to be done?
