General New member considering Zam Wesell

Finally getting back to the costume creation for Zam. Going to snap pictures as I go, as usual. Today, I got them cleaned up, sanded, and so far put a primer on the parts. Tomorrow I'll put a coat of labmetal on them, shine them up, and weather the metal parts. Will probably get the leather dyed purple too and get it ready to put on them. Going to be a busy couple of days!

Good news! I don't have to dye anymore leather; I have good sized leftovers that'll work.
Bad news is that I'm almost out of 2 part epoxy and it's 30 minutes away to get more. *sigh* Love living rural, I really do. Except when I need to finish a Star Wars project!

For those making this costume as of late, be careful which images you reference for the guantlets. The reference images of Zam's gauntlets from the exhibit images do not put the upper leatherclad piece up high enough on the left gauntlet. The two pictures within the Dressing a Galaxy book shows the placement up much higher. Just an fyi.

Zam Gauntlets update:

So, I found out Lab-metal won't last, even when sealed. So if you're going to use it, get a small can or do a bunch of work with it. It was like play dough, so I thinned it down with toluene. The integrity was probably compromised, but those spots I'm going to go over with some spray paint. When I get it this afternoon. *sigh* These WILL be done before I leave Friday....

Photos finally uploaded to photobucket. Several images. http://s1382.photobucket.com/user/silvermittt/library/SW Zam?sort=3&page=1

Thank you, ladies!

I'm going to help out the local 501st/RL group in Evansville this weekend and will be getting submission photos in afterwards.
I'll have changes to make before it's approved, but I knew those things would need updated. Really looking forward to getting a BH id finally!
