Would this be an ok buy for a first armor attempt?

I know the golden rule here is never buy from eBay but this is made out of PVC sentra. I have seen alot of guys using this material in their builds.

This is my very first attempt at costuming (real costuming that is. Han Solo is way to easy to do.)

The only reason I am even considering buying this is due to my lack of knowledge of Sentra and I'm a little short on fabrication tools at the moment.

The description reads "These plates have been hand-crafted, and are cut and molded such that they will fit most people between 5 foot 4 and 6 foot 3. These plates would make an excellent starting point for an affordable Fett costume!

The leg pieces have been been molded to have the proper shape, and the shin plates are a single piece, not two pieces glued together!

The plates are crafted from 1/8th of an inch thick PVC Sentra, and are both lightweight and sturdy.

I'd recommend you get rid of the auction link and post the pic so you don't get in trouble with Asok. Otherwise, many people like Seeker and Jango72 have made very high quality Jango suits with sheet armor.

A friend of mine purchased one of those sets, and quite frankly, for the price that is being asked for that set you can make a much better set for alot less.

All of those armor parts will have to be reshaped, and the chest plates will have to be trimmed. So after all of that work, which requires the same tools as scratch-building, you'd be better off taking the WoF templates and making your own. Just make sure that you scale it properly to your body.

Go with Cruzers BKBT armor or make your own from trashcans (do a search for trash can armor) or there are some talented Sintra-smiths out there (just got my Seeker armor finished and it is awesome!).

I would highly recommend against that ebay armor and go with even the trashcan method if you don't want to spend too much... just buy a decent heatgun and shape it.

Yea, I would have to agree with everyone else on this, but it really depends on how much you want to spend on your jango. IMO, I'd just save up and get some good fiberglass, molded armor, because in the long run, it will be worth it, and look and feel a million times better then sintra armor

Good luck with your trashcan armor! I first bought an eBay set years ago and the major problem was that it was too big here, not shaped right there. Cutting your own armor out of trash cans isn't terribly difficult, and you will be making it how YOU want it. Your shape, your size, etc. Trust me, you will be a happy camper, and once again, good luck!
