MR Westar mold experiment

I tried something different today and pulled a resin copy. Working with resin is so much easier than working with rubber. You can see how the resin easily produces a better surface.

It's made of a very hard resin rated at a shore hardness of 85 D...in other words it'll chip your teeth! It's also has a really nice weight to it that's sorta comparible to the MR.

NICE! I love that smooth finish, probably the resin ones would be the most economical for me right now. After hearing how hard it is, it makes me feel better about the resin. At least I can pistol whip someone without having to worry about them falling apart . Thats if your going to produce these also? please

Very clean casts bruv!
I'm not a Jango, and I appreciate the want for rubber versions for trooping... but these look the Nuts in resin...

Glad you like them. I actually made this set to do a little experiment Seeker and I had discussed a few days ago, and that was creating a stunt trigger that was more spinner friendly. I modified it with a 7/8" hole which I think would give a gloved finger plenty of room for spinning.(y)

As for making resin pulls, I wouldn't mind making a few from this mold once I make the new rubber blaster molds. I'm thinking about remolding everything for metal accents, and just want to create a better mold.

Looks ace. totally seemless.

I think i'd go for a pair of finished resins if you could keep the price down. I'd like a stunt pistol in the pair but would try to ease off on the spinning for fear of having to holster many, many tiny pieces of blaster! hehe

I would take a set of resin castings too... nothing wrong w/ the hyperfirm - but what bothers me a little w/ them is that you really can't get rid of the mold-lines... I bet, the resin castings can be made to look almost perfect... and since my Jango is for display only anyways. the resin castings make a whole lot of sense... especially, if you can offer them for less than the hyperfirm castings... sign me up!

I had bought a set off a fellow member here, and one had a piece of thin metal glued onto the bottom for spinning purposes.

Probably would be a great idea to make a stunt trigger as well there Cruzer!

wow, the resin looks so slick! i have a resin kit pair of westars and they come no where near these. I would be interested in either honestly. I do like the smoothness of the resin cast ones better though.

Here's a custom paint I did on one of the test pulls. I gave it to a kid down the street who wanted the handle black.

Those look great! I won't be getting any this time around as I've got enough going out for other parts at the moment. But I'll be keeping an eye out for future runs. Cruzer, is this what you do for a living? I'm only curious because it seems like a huge amount of work and with a full time job and family I'd love to know how you make the time? When do you sleep mate? LOL!
:cheers

Did he let you ride his tricycle in exchange?
He said he'd be my friend! Actually his little brother is a big SW fan and I gave him an accurate painted blaster earlier...so big brother came around and had to get one also. They've been playing with them all day.

Rudidupe, believe it or not, I'm an English teacher who's on summer vacation at the moment.;)

Right on! My best friend is a History teacher on the same deal. Loves having summers off. This is a great way to supplement the income too. My buddy has to dress up like a girl and....well, you do what you must. LOL!
