darkside's Jango Progress

New Hunter
Hello to all you BH costumers. I have been a 501st member for a little over a year. I joined with an Anakin EIII costume and am now finding myself preparing for my second costume. I have been reading on the forums for some time now. I have been debating on what to make next and recently made a decision to go for Jango. So, I figured I would go ahead and get started.
So, my first piece of my Jango costume was the gloves. I got these from Target as many of you have. I think they are the same price at all Targets at $17.99. After I got them home I cut off the buckle and took out the inner liner. They are not completely done as I am thinking about putting some elastic around the wrist. Here are some pics of the gloves:

I also landed a pair of hiking shoes made by Prada off ebay that just happen to have the accurate soles. I only spent $24.99! My plan is to modify them to be more like a pair of military boots. I want them to be lace and zipper boots. Here is a picture of the shoes and a picture of a military boot to give you an idea of how I'll be modding the shoes:

So, I'm just getting started and will be getting more as I can afford it. It might be slow progress but I want to keep track of it here. I am always open for advice and constructive criticism. A smart man learns from his mistakes, but a wise man learns from the mistakes of others. (or something like that ;) )
Thanks, Mike

When I get them in the mail I will look for a model name. I was searching for everything under the sun that had that sole in as many ways as I could think of. One day I did a search for 'Prada hiking boots' on ebay and bam there they were. The seller didn't know what they had or that they could have gotten much more money by adding one word... 'Jango'. :D That is what they say though...'One man's trash is another man's treasure.'

Definately, can't believe the lengths we have to go to to get a certain outdated style of sole. It's a shame the CAboots build fell through for us. I still have a hard time finding the GBX boots in my size as well. 9..really..not that odd, but I find are 8 and 12s all day. Thanks for the insight and look forward to the model name as well as your progress posts looks like an interesting take on the boots.:cheers

Chris

I wear a size 9 and I found some size 8 bedford stus and they fit perfectly... so if you can get them cheap, try the 8's... you may be surprised.

I could not see a brand name on the shoes at all. I will post more pics when I get a chance. The sole of the shoe is stamped with the Vibram logo, but I am sure this sole is not in production anymore. I wonder if anyone has tried making a mold of an existing sole to reproduce it. Has anyone considered doing that?
I have started the modifications to the boots. They are really narrow, although, during the modification process I will be able to give them a little more width. I tested this on one of the shoes yesterday and I think it will work fine. The leather is not black, it is more like a charcoal gray color. I have not decided whether or not I want to try and change it to black. Does anyone have an opinion on the best way to do that?

Thanks Tony, I'll keep an eye out.

Mike appreciate the look, sounds like you have quite a daunting task ahead with the modification. Keep the posts coming(y).

Rub-n-Buff... it is a wax paint that you rub on and buff to a metallic shine... it is what most of us use for our armor and silver Jango pieces.

You can get it at Michael's or Hobby Lobby or online at Misterart.com

It is incredible stuff and just search YouTube for Seeker's tutorial on how to use it, it will make it very easy.

Thanks,

Thanks TLobe :) found it and also the tutorial, very useful!

Hey Mike just got a pair of those Prada boots from the bay, they are used and they were cheap, look like the same model you got with the grey/green cloth and the dark brown leather, the model number is 3479?

Size as marked its 40 1/2 and were advertised as a US 10, but feel a little bit too tight, let me know what kind of mods you will do so I can follow

Thanks

Best regards

Yeah, no problem...I am researching materials/supplies that I will be using for the modifications. I will post an update when I have something to post.
