Chest Diamond and Breast Plate grooves/slots

Hello everyone! This is literally my first post ever here. I am also making my first suit ever, so please wish me luck (helpful tips are appreciated :D)

I plan on making my chest armor with 6mm sintra and having it computer routed out on a flatbed cutter (I work in a sign shop so I have access to these fun machines).

My question is, what depth should the slots in the left chest plate be? What depth should the rectangle inside the diamond be?

After pouring over countless photos of Temura Morrison in costume across the internet it does not appear to me to be cut completely through. Only milled down partly through the material. Was wondering if anyone had a measurement for how far down or maybe some of formula or "rule of thumb" based on thickness of material.

Thanks for any and all input.

On my jangos chest plate i just cut them right out and then glued a very thin piece ofplastic in behind before painting, but if you have such access to such awesome precise machines id recomend going about 3 or 4 mm deep if using 6 mm sintra that should make it plenty defined, im not sure there is an actual thickness it needs to be just so long as its clearly noticeable

As long as the 2mm left after going 4mm deep is strong enough (which im sure it would be ) then imagine that would be the better choice just for the sake of having it nice and defined, look forward to seeing how it turns out! :) always love a jango build!
