Armor Attatchment

Hey folks, the time is nearing that my BobaMaker flight suit, vest, and chest//collar//shoulder armor will be arriving, and I have a question.

What is the most common//best method of attatching the armor to the vest, and/or flight suit? I've seen people use snaps, I've seen velcro (Ew, no thanks) I've seen magents (Doesn't work so well, but it looks really cool when he's suiting up :p)

I would really appreciate any input people can give me on this, I used velcro on my first suit and it was horrible. I'm going to have to learn how to use a sewing machine, at least a little bit, I know.

Once my Bobamaker stuff gets here, I'll make this thread my progress thread and will take any suggestions I can get on assembly.

I was thinking snaps sewn into elastic bands for the leg pieces, and the cod. And, stationary snaps for the chest, collar, and shoulder armor.

I have cruzer gauntlets on the way, so those will be hinge//pin, not velcro like my old ones.

Thanks guys!!

I used bolts to attach my armor to my vest. It works well and I haven't had any problems so far.

David.

Hi [AK]Edge

I have used the snap-method, see pic below.

It takes some time and careful measuments. First glue some snaps on the inside of the armor. Then chalk them and place it on the vest while wearing it. The chalk will make circles on the vest. Then you make some holes for the snaps.

There is a thread from Cruzer that explains it in more detail.

Has anyone here ever try using something called Dual Lock Reclosable fasteners made by Scotch before? They look sort of like velcro but instead of being hooks and loops it's just two sides of hooks instead but work pretty much the same, just press together. I've only used it once myself and that was to fasten the shoulders of a cheap vacformed muscle cuirass that I bought for Halloween last year but it did hold pretty nice although they were just hold the two halves together on my shoulder. But according to the packaging it says that it can hold 2 lbs for every 1 inch of the stuff and it would seem like it wouldn't wear out like velcro does since it doesn't have any of that fuzzy loop stuff on it.

I'm thinking of trying this stuff on my Jedi armor that I'm starting to (slowly) work on. I'll be sure to post the results of my findings once I'm done although it may not be appliacable to Mando armor since the Jedi armor will be resting on my shoulders where as Mando hangs mostly straight off of the chest and back.

so far have been using snaps as a lot of members here recommend it. though i haven't finished yet, it seems to be working out great!
