XF-65 qustion for ESB bucket

Hi,

I was wondering how accurate the Tamiya XF-65 Field gray is compared to the movie accurate colors used for the ESB bucket?

Anybody paint thier buckets using this? Pictures anyone?

Thanks!

I went and bought some the other day, and I usually paint - customize 3 3/4 Hasbro figures, but please try and order some pollyscale if you are into acrylic. I'm into Tamiya acrylics at the moment but this XF-65 Field gray is NOT even close. It looks more gray than green. I don't think there's any Tamiya paints that are similar to Panzer Olive Green straight out of the bottle, unless you have to mix.

Try "Vallejo" model color paint. its intended for air brush use, but also works well with normal brushing. Its a standard modelers paint used for fine modeling. It comes in a surprisingly large array of colors, Panzer olive green being one of them. its an acrylic paint and it mixes incredibly well, unlike Tamiya; which i find to be a fussy paint. ( I find Tamiya is good for spraying but not applying with a brush as it often lifts if you use too many brush strokes).

If its the spray paint its good but if you plan on using airbrush and want to use acrylic get Floquil polly S POGreen
the tamiya colour is not bad but if your using airbrush there are beter colours

like jinto says, if you are using the tamiya field gray in the spray can version, it is pretty good - I personally feel its a little better suited to ROTJ helmet, as its a little darker, but if you dont have much to choose from in your area, then its a good shade, and you could do far worse. I used it a while back when i was practicing colours on an old hasbro lid, and it works well. There are some better options, but overall, its a fairly faithfull shade. Peace :)

to match the colors used in U.S or U.K in other area of the world is kinda painful... i hope one day someone will come up with a Tamiya color list for ESB/ROTJ lid for folks in the rest of the world... In my country, only tamiya and Mr.color available... got mix color deligently but it really takes time to match colors, i guess i can call this fun part of the game lol

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Has anyone mixed XF-65 field grey with any other Tamiya color to get the correct shade? O r will Panzer Olive be the right decision to do a ESB bucket color?

Oh i also saw a Mr.Color(Gunze) Field grey laquer and bought it.. Hope it works...

Problem is I just cant find a clear cut color picture to compare to when buying paints..

I compare the paint bottles to the pics on my phone and it's really hard coz even the actual pics differ in color depending on the lighting.. Arghhh!!!!
