WOF Dome question

Hello TDH i have been lurking this site for some time now and finally had a valid enough question to actually create an account.

Here it goes. I have been following Antman's (cardboard build) tutorial to the tee thus far and have attached the cheek bones, however, my skills with cardboard are far surpassed by his and I'm hesitant to build the dome piece.

With that said i have been looking up alternatives to making it out of cardboard and have come to two solutions.

1.) Using a batters helmet that has been cut into 4 sections and then put into the correct shape and welded or something together.(it looks like a lot of work however and i do not know how to weld and from the looks of it that is one of the skill requirements of using a batters helmet)

2.) Replacing the dome piece with a skateboarding helmet which looks really good IMO but i don't know if it is the correct shape or how hard it would be to replicate the dent into the hard plastic of the helmet.

So does anyone have any input with personal experience or an opinion of what i should do i really do not trust myself enough to construct the dome and i apologize for not having any pictures but i will post some when i eventually do get home.

Thanks for the input in advance.

Batter's helmets work well, and you don't have to weld them. All you do is cut them in quarters, and then cement sintra between the sections. You can build up the areas with bondo after that. If you're concerned about getting the Wizard's dome templates together correctly, don't be. They actually assemble much easier than the cheeks. When I made mine, I attached all three templates together, and cut them out as a single piece. After that, you just glue the fingers edge to edge (I used some thin pieces on the backside for support). The dome takes shape on its own. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help i decided to buy a child's age 8 skateboarding helmet at walmart for 10$ and after a little bondo and a lot of sanding it is working out great. ill post pics when I get a little bit of extra time but after removing the inside padding it was a perfect match for the dome piece.
