WIP: Boba Fett PP1 helmet

Hey all, I rarely post around here, but I lurk around almost every day. Great little corner of the net. :)

I'm working on something I thought you all might like. I got a SgtFang helmet and decided to try painting it as the PP1.

First, I fixed up the SgtFang a bit; fixing the mold seam, sharpening the cheek corners, and fixed some other little details. I kept the ear piece, but worked on making it less crooked.

Then to make it like the PP1, I filled in the dent, added the slash, and added some of the subtle ESB damage on the mandibles since it looks like the PP1 has some of it too.

I'm holding off on painting till I get the reference CD since I bet it has some better pictures than what I got.
You can see my lousy sketch trying to figure out the colors.

Wish me luck! (<<< what, no PP1 smiley? )

Cool! I like the pre-pro helmets. . . even if I get them confused from time to time.
I've worked on a Fang helmet before, it's a nice kit.

I am so slow...

I put on a base coat of Floquil Bright Silver.

I'm kind of going to do....... well... I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm just going with it.

where are you getting the floquil paints? the only place I've found them is a train hobby shop/ museum in conway. When I was looking for Lark gray the lady kept telling me that I can mix gray with black and white, as if I couldn't figure that out myself.

There's a hobby shop near me that has a huge selection of paints. Great little place. The few times I've been in, they insist on giving tips. :)

Hey Zombie, I have a fantastic hobby shop literally 1/2 mile from where I live. If you're looking for any paints, they stock pretty much anything under the sun.
If you need anything, just PM me and I'd be happy to put a package together for ya. I did just that for MadridBoba and sent him some paints all the way to Spain. :)

Hey thanks man, I don't need any at the moment I was just curious because the only place I've found in NH to carry them is the place in Conway. I make take you up on that offer later tho. ;)

No problem. I'm in that place a couple times a week for various stuff.
They all know me in there. They're convinced I eat model paints.

A few more progress pics...

Any opinions on this color? It's not too late to use something else.
I would've gone outside to take some pics, but it's snowing.

Wow that thing reeeeeeeeally changes color depending on the light. . .
That looks like a tricky color to match. Just my opinion, but I think your base color is just a little too far to the blue side of blue gray. It's close though!

No tricks there, same color was used on that that is used on the Pre Pro 2 and the ROTJ. ;) No crazy colors, sadly the shots your using are just faded and saturated as they can be from being stored poorly. The colors you want (assuming you want to change them) are Humbrol paints.
