What the Fett did I do to this helmet? Cheek skew issue

Hey guys, I'm working on my first cast helmet and I'm in need of some help. Mine is an asok resin/CC supertrooper and I've been trying to get the mandibles to lay straight. Ever since I cut the visor out I've been unhappy with the helmet shape and at this point I think I might have made the problem even worse.

I guess the problem is solved when you fit the visor into the helmet. What I mean is that you must bend the cheeks, than fit the visor, then mark with a pen where you want the holes, this way you can straighten the cheeks and align the visor vertically and horizontally.

That's what I was counting on before I mounted it. Maybe I could make it work with a new visor and another shot at it but I feel like I wasn't able to fix it at all (I was using the chicago screw method) I know what you mean though and I tried to fix the shape as a went but to no avail.

It will all be fixed when you screw the visor in you may need to trim the visor down some what , and get it to a good shape then position were the visor and the cheeks meet and makw holes in the visor and work out were they should be possitioned in to the helmet and add the screws epoxy them in then put the visor in and screw them to gether have a look at other peoples methods but if you do this you can manipulate were the cheeks sit

Hey apolifka- I had the same problem w my cc lid. What I did was use a hairdryer to heat the mandibles, then just kind of worked it manually until it was close enough to my liking. Once that was accomplished, I hot glued the visor (minimal glue) very quickly in order to maintain the shape. It's not perfect however, it's not too noticeable. Hope this helps man.

a few things I can say about this...the mandible on the right is slightly to high causing it to taper in at the bottom the left mandible is doing the opposite however, cauing it to taper out...if you correct these it would help...I dont like the chicago screw/with rubber washers anymore after trying it a few times the screws just done get tight enough...i get machine screws with flat heads and mount them to the helmet, use nuts and washers and spacers made from plastic if needed, i put two at the bottom of the mandibles two at the top of the mandibles and one on the center of the forhead area, now it takes a little time to do, but works out well to line things up...I get the locations for the bolts by getting my visor the size and shape i want it by cutting it little by little yours maybe to wide right now actually, then i drill holes in the areas i want the bolts, mark the helmet in the areas i want the screw, counter sink a spot for the bolt to go, sand around the area put the screw in the hole epoxy or JB weld quick in my case and set them up in there, then let it dry and it should be about fluch with the inside of the helmet since i sunk the bolt in the hole, the hole should be a bit bigger than the bolt BTW

Thanks for all the advice guys! I scored the holes I drilled in my visor and filled them with loctite repair putty. I'm going to try to drill new holes near my originals to see if I can fix the skew and avoid buying a new visor.

I'll be purchasing a new welding shield soon for this. When I trimmed it per Cruzer's tutorial I trimmed it crooked as well so not only is there not enough plastic to fix the distortion, when the mandibles are sorta fixed the visor no longer fits the gap as needed. This hobby rarely goes smoothly though (for me) so live and learn I guess.

I've gone through about five draft visors made from illustration board and I finally cut my new shield and installed it. The mandibles are still a little off, but it's **** close and I really need to stop being such a perfectionist if I'm going to have this done before con. So here's the helmet now, I would love to hear what you think.
