*UPDATE-COMPLETE 5/3/12:Jayvee's deluxe ESB paint up (with an awesome BGHunter lid..)

I've got to say that after being glued to every update and poring over every color flake on your helmet, and watching the collaboration between Rafal and Jayvee, I'm going to have to insist you two be married. With your powers combined.... CAPTAIN PLAAAAANET and such. Also, I'm stealing this color list, I've been reading about the color shift of the Pre Pro 1 helmet and how it's most similar to the PP3 and ESB hero helmet, cheers my friends.

Haha, you're more than welcome to steal any info or color lists you like bud, thats what the posts are for brother. As for marrying raf, I think mrs. Jayvee would be a little upset with our wedding less than two months away. The idea of a fett superhero like team is novel tho - I like it! Haha, I actually just think its one of those well timed things with one guy perfecting stencils, and one guy trying to perfect a paint up at the same time outta sheer coincidence - its really been a great thing to be able to bounce accuracy ideas off someone to get as close as you can. Appreciate the kind and humerous words bud, any questions, feel free anytime :)

I'm already taken and Jayvee will follow shortly, so marriage is out of question! I really like to do constructive collaborations of this kind with TDH members, this way I can give a little but I'm also ready to take lessons from others.

Ahh, this is all quite amusing.. A real mini-update here, had a little time spare today, so added the very subtle yellow streaks and all the extra bright red splotches. Group pic (1)shows the yellow streaks, and these had to be really subtle, as they are very light- real 'blink and you could miss it' kinda stuff. I found that even with doing the highlights super light with the airbrush, I still had to steel wool them back a fraction for blending. Group pic (2) shows a couple of the added bright red areas - I have put them all in there, but many of them are so tiny, I just showed a couple of them to give you the right idea. Im sure my psuedo-husband Raf will find some more little nik-naks to add in ;), but for now, here are some stills. I just added a few arrows to point out the areas, as they can be either so minute or subtle, it would be easy to miss what i'm yapping about... peace my fine people :)

It's spot on! You did an excellent job with this helmet! I think we can call the ESB marathon closed as I'm not able to find other extra scratches and spots. I will repost the ESB stencils soon.

*UPDATE : COMPLETED - Jayvee's deluxe ESB paint up (with an awesome BGHunter lid..)

Well Rock stars, I think I can say this paint up is pretty well complete! Bazinga! Of course you will note the missing rangefinder – don’t despair; it’s simply a case of waiting for a lovely Bobamaker Deluxe, as well as a working led system from Salamanderking. So that will go on when they arrive. Other than that, pretty much everything is done – of course, if Mr. Raf finds anymore hidden treasures, I will add them, but as his stencils have had the final updates, we might be looking at pretty minor stuff.

So this helmet project, while long and drawn out due to time constraints, has been a blast. I’d like to give a huge shout out to RafalFett for his collaborating and brilliant stencils, James for his awesome helmet cast, Garrett for his direction and humbrol colour lists, and to everyone of you who has stopped by the thread to take a look and/or post your awesome feedback...

So onto the pics – I may get up some definitive ones when my RF arrives, and my professional photographer mate comes thru to do some damage, but here’s a few of my 99% completed lid. Here we have: some 360 degree shots in the first group; some close-ups of areas in the second group, and a combo in the 3rd group of details (an addition of note is the weathered rangefinder stalk), a comparison pic I liked, and at the end, some tequila drinking goofball... Enjoy gang, any comments and feedback welcome as always. Peace :cheers

Haha, Thanks a bunch Raf, its been a pleasure collaborating with you. Maybe after the wedding a little down the track, we can tackle ROTJ Hero ;) As for the last pic, that was probably more just a good excuse for Tequilas after a long morning of Beach Volley :) Thanks again brother!

Well done Jayvee! What an amazing job you did and an awesome collaboration with Rafa. This is the result of super talented, gifted individuals with the same passion and dedication to a hobby and interest, maybe even a love... We all share! I really can't believe how good your helmet is.... It is the closest thing to the lid we all know and love, that I have seen. Has anyone seen better? I doubt it! All I can say is... I hope some of this talent rubs off on me before my bobamaker helmet arrives! :). Thanks from one of you're fans.

Gosh, thanks brother, some really nice comments there, and I thouroughly appreciate it. Im pretty sure there may be some better lids out there, I'm not sure I can join that elite just yet with some great painters like Terminal Fettler, Spideyfett, Fettpride and Bobamaker, but to have you mention me anywhere near those sorts of guys is a huge compliment. Of course, having said that, I'm rapt with how this lid turned out, and I will say that I am a stickler for details, so I like to get even the minute things right, and am really happy with all the addittions and final result. But thankyou for the kind words, always nice to hear from a fellow Aussie :) Anything you need, feel free to drop me a line anytime bud :)

The list with the elite painters is a bit longer starting with the legendary Steve The Swede, and you can add Rogue Studios, AFettFullOfDollars and Superjedi too. I think that with the painting of a Sandy type helmet will prove that you are on the right track to become a top painter.

For sure mate, some great painters indeed - bottom line, I simply like to take it one project at a time, and for my second ever paintup, I am rapt with the result for this ESB lid. It's as accurate as I could possibly get it, but really, for me its not so much about reaching the so called 'upper echelon' (no disrespect intended). I'm a cruisy kinda guy, so for me, its simply about having a nice finished product, while aiming to always learn and improve techniques, by taking in everything I can from these sensational painters. To have people give awesome comments about my own work, and to inspire others is a wonderful thing to hear, and I really am pleased to be part of such a fantastic community. You are all superstars! Peace :)

Just you chuckleheads wait, I'm going to get a Pre Pro 1 helmet looking amazing, and you guys will be like dayyuuuum. Still, if it gets half of the love this helmet was shown by it's painter I'm sure my helmet will be amazing. :) Once again, good work jayvee, at first I only used this thread for the color list, but your work just kept bringing me back. You did an awesome job.

Just a very minor addittion to the interior pics - realised I had forgot to put in the pic I took with the chinstrap attached - so just added that in to pic 2, as well as a little close up of the electronics for those who are a stickler for details in pic 3. Not a big concern, but went out of my way to make it, so thought I may as well add in the pic.. so heres group 4 - updated interior pics -

P.S. - Just ignore the little dob of blu tac in pic 2 - it was only to stop the strap flipping up, but didnt work, so doesn't really live in there :)
