tdh newbie tries hasbro conversion / noskill

New Hunter
Hello everyone!
Im new to this forum (and german so i have a good excuse for my poor grammar)! Its great to see people doing such a great job reconstructing fetts armor!

Now two weeks ago I purchased a hasbro Fett helmet which in my opinion was a stupid thing to do. I realized it needed so much modding a cardboard fett would have been better and realizing i had very poor skills didnt make it any better.
Despite that fact I just tried a convo and sadly :( i didnt get it right. (what a suprise)

What i did was make the helmet shorter (cut out the visor) and took out a piece of the dome (can only see that from side) because it was WAY to big for my head. I took out the complete interior and glassed it. It is atleast a strong helmet now and doesnt fall apart anymore if it is handled more rough. I know the cheeks got messed up in the process...

Its not finished at all but here it is (dont know if i put in links correctly):

I dont know. If i dont get it fixed enough for a Boba ill just use it as a custom mando if im accepted. If not i might as well throw it away. Can this one be saved? Need your opinion and help on it guys!

thanks

hey man, great effort on that! what i see in your pics is that helmet seems to be, well, like it leans to the right of the helmet...maybe the madibles are leaning that way...it doesnt look straight to me...if you can line up those mandibles straighter, and fill your lines where you cut, you should be ok...good job so far! :cheers

my question is, by doing this transformation, does it make the helmet too small for an adult?

*** you are so right! The whole helmet leans to one side and the brow seems like "punched" out of line. Ill try fix that and post a picture as soon as i can!
and thank you

Not a bad job on the mod truth is if you want it acurate its almost imposible to do ive done it and im up to my 4th version of modifiying1 casting it then moding that then casting that and so on also definently make (OR BUY) some ears for the lid as the pnes that come with that are WAY to big BUT YOUR DOING WELL SO KEEP AT IT

Yeah hell thats true! Its so hard to go with the hasbro and be happy with it. I mean **** even the dome is to squareshaped and bulky - not to mention the whole face out of shape. But I aint gonna go for screen accurate anyway because i dont have the skills...
I realigned the mandibles to make em "straight". The brow still is out of place:

Progress is made but slowly.
Buying ears depends on how much they cost! And i live in germany so shipping is expensive. Would like to see pics of your progress on the hasbro though! - u know i need some inspiration to keep this fight going :p.

thanks for the advice!

(where can i upload pics to thedentedhelmet that i dont have to post urls. the insert image function is not working somehow (using flickr) )

That's good stuff right there and you're tackling a project I've thought about, but haven't done because of my current skill level. I'd like to see the progress with this bucket as you go further down the line, so definitely update the thread!

@ sentry Yes i will definitly keep posting. Its just that ill have to put it to an 8 day freeze or something because my girl is coming over and wouldnt be appropriate workin at it in that time.

@fettdad I will post the measurements in a bit. It depends on how big you are as a adult. Im 1.79metres and the helmet is fine for me...

So measurements of the helmet are :
circumfence dome, bottom ca72.7cm
circumfence helmet, general: ca77.4cm (yes it stays the same: small/no flare?)
from ear to ear over the dome (measured from end to end both)
from mandible-bottom to brow: 15cm
visor height: ca15.5 (what is seen)
visor width, eyes edge to edge: ca26.4cm
visor broadness from mandible to mandible: ca4cm
visor broadness, eyes, center: ca1,85cm
visor broadness, eyes, edge: ca 0,90cm
estimated height inside helmet to dome 24cm

i hope this helps, was done on the fly anway but should be correct

Yeah as the sizingh goes the dome is the same size as say a MH but from birds eye veiw is an oval shape instead of an egg shape to get it right there is a lot of work to reshape it and it sits level instead of haveing the back rasied but once its all reshaped from front on its a pretty desent looking dome. and the over all size of the whole lid is very close if not a tad taller than the WOF template style helmets but the ears are almost double the size of the real thing. so all in all the bigest fett helmet on the market
Dipidulor if youd like to get some ears PM me id be happy to send you some at the cost of the materials and shiping which all up should be pretty If you want to see how i mine turned outive got a couple of threeds in there, im also working on the 4th gen of my helmet but i havent posted any pics yet need to get batteries ive been to bussy in all fair ness nothing on it has any links to the hasbro now every part of it has been reworked that many times to get the shape asclose to what i see the real lid as i see it

although progress is beeing made it is to slow to keep this thread going. i will post the result as soon as possible.
this thread may be closed by admins now.
