Thanks, guys.
Today is Labor Day, so that gives me some extra time to do some painting!
Over the last few sessions I've done the cat scratch and the surrounding areas, the turn signal area, and the dent and streak.
There are still some small physical scratches to do, but not nearly as many as on the back of the dome.
The dent is probably my favorite feature of the ESB. It's one of the portions that people will notice first, and there's some nice detail
scattered around and inside. Here are a couple of angles.
The next part I'll work on is the big scrape across the top of the dome.
Thanks!
Been putting in some overtime at work so I haven't had too much free time for important stuff like Boba Fett, but I've managed
to get the killstripes done. So much masking for a couple of minutes of airbrushing! LOL. But that's part of the process.
You can see the fade a little better in the next pic. It's subtle.
I've already started doing the silver and gray damage that's scattered around and in between the stripes. I just haven't taken any pics yet.
Still working overtime thru the weekend, but I finished up the damage around the killstripes. This means that the basic
painting on the dome is done! There are a handful of physical scratches I'll be adding later.
Another angle from slightly higher.
The next step will be to block in the dark color on the outer cheeks and start on the cheek damage.
*Whew!* Overtime at my job is over! So I should be able to speed things up with this bucket.
I got the outer cheeks blocked in, and did the damage on the right cheek over the past few days.
Still working with my gray and silver. I brush the dark color on the outer cheeks by hand using a wide flat brush. The Polly Scale
PRR Brunswick Green is a great color, and it only takes a couple of light coats to give full opaque coverage.
I'll stencil out the damage on the left cheek and work on that this evening and tomorrow. Then it will be time to get some
red on this bad boy!
I finished up the left cheek. As I've mentioned in previous threads, there's another shade of gray used here that doesn't appear anywhere
else on the helmet. It's along the outer border between the inner cheek and the outer cheek and it's slightly darker and greener than the
"standard" gray damage. I mix a custom shade for each helmet that I do. I sort of try to split the difference between the SP Lark Dk Gray
and the PRR Brunswick Green.
With the SP gray, it fades or grows more apparent depending on the light. Here's another angle.
I also got another major stage done--red!
The red will dry overnight and then I'll begin the gray/silver/maroon-purple damage. It's looking more Fett-y now!
