Raizo's ESB GMH paint up

Active Hunter
Finally got my GMH back from Cruzer who was fitting the visor for me (thanks again! ) so now I can finally start on my paint up!

I'm going to be deviating from the standard humbrol enamel paints this time around and opting to use various brands of acrylic paints; tamiya, model master, testors etc. So expect a lot of custom color mixing!

Hopefully I can put the new Battlefront down long enough to get work done on this thing lol

Here is the helmet without the visor in and without the PP2 damage filled:

Despite the limitations of this helmet I still have a great deal of time for it. I think FP did an amazing job with this. Honestly, from the source to the final product is miraculous, whatever was done to it. It can't escape the constraints of the original and the size is a shame but still...

Looking forward to another thread it seems.

Please give us as much detail as possible.

Live the dream.

Wait why did you need to remove it? Are you putting in a metal one instead?

Yep! It's something I prefer to do for all the helmets. The animefan one I just did up came with a casted one that you glue into the open slot, but I just drilled it out and popped in a brass borden; same as I'll do here :)

I see. Very clean removal nonetheless!

Thank you!

Slowly tidying up the key slots. I've hot glued in the mq1 board and tomorrow morning I'll be giving the helmet a bath with dish soap to remove any oils I may have left on it during sanding and cleaning up. Then immediately after I'll prime it, as I've already gone through and reputtied some spots on the helmet. :)

To me it looks like epoxy putty or resin. That's what I'll be using.

Bottom half of the board appears to be replaced by a small strip of curved acrylic on the ESB which is itself attached to the top half of the board.

Took me a bit to find the image but this is what I was referring to, and I see what you're saying now, thanks! I think I'll use some creative license regarding it's attachment :)
