Newbie and colour blind

New Hunter
Hi,
I live in the UK.
I'm going to purchase a bobafett helmet to paint, still haven't decided what paint job yet. There are a couple of helmets on eBay, a fibreglass £60, a white polyurethane plastic £95 and a GHM in cold cast aluminium from Canada £135, plus I'm waiting to here back from bobamaker on delivery times and availability.

I've found a number of paint lists on the forums but some seem to look a little strange (I am colour blind though) can you let me know your thoughts on which would be the best way to go.

I have a little experience with an airbrush and really like using Tamiya acrylics. Does any one have a list of paints?

Many thanks.
Ian

Stay away from those eBay helmets. They're recasts and bad quality.

hit up animefan or FettPride for helmets.

Good advice from rnbuda.
Although, isn't animefan based in Canada?

If you've looked at the color list threads, those are pretty widely accepted.

Stay away from the light children, look away from the light, lol.
Avoid eBay. We don't say this because we dislike eBay. Just the kids look like a bargain to people, but they are ripoffs. Recast Fettpride helmets and the GMH recast. Quality is always lacking too. Recast be someone that knows very little about mold making and quality prop building. We need a sticky about eBay for sure. This gets brought up by almost every newcomer ( not blaming them) and if they don't find out in time they tend to believe they saved 50 bucks, when in fact they pretty much threw it all away. Hindsight is always 20/20...

Thanks,
I don't fancy waiting 90 days which I believe is the lead time on the animefan and FettPride helmets. Any experience with Bobamaker's helmets? Any others available now? What should I be paying for a Helmet?

Decided to go for a ESB scheme, Just spent £38 on paint, going to do a few test pieces as I've never done any paint layering before.

Thanks again.

Fett Pride makes the best that's why there is a wait time. Last time I talked to animefan his wait time was no where near 90 days. I believe it's usually 3-4 weeks.

Boba Maker is the same time frame as Fett Pride.

check RS props for their Fett kits too

Animefan takes 3-4 weeks, I actually received mine yesterday. His Budget cast are wonderful and very little prep needs to be done.

Thanks, I've emailed everyone for exact delivery times.
I found a great app. Model paint 42
To find equivalent paints from other manufacturers.

Ian I got an email from RS Props yesterday and there lead time is approx 6 weeks.

Ive just ordered a Fettpride otherwise I'd have probably gone with one of these.

Yea avpid e-bay like the plague! (except for ManofWarStudios and MLS)

That said..shameless plug..I also make helmets, fiberglass, wait time 3-4 weeks.

Bobamaker is more like 8 months to a year wait time for a helmet. Quality is great though and you're also in the UK so shipping is better.
