Yea the mq1 is in there

The cheeks do have a semi metallic look def. different in color than the dome. And the red on the mandibles are like a metallic red as well. But the detail in the paint is great.

Thanks, difficult to tell from the photos. From what I can see it appears to be some sort of Master Replicas recast and that's usually a pretty good start.
Is it shiny and metallic looking?

The cast seems good. Has writing inside it "SA-3271 props boba v2 2016" the red defend looks like a slight metallic but also could be that they sprayed some sort of Matt clear coat. But don't quote me on it.
But I'm gonna get a raw cast and use that one pretty much as stencil and a paint guid. Just use colors that are more screen accurate.

This is one of the helmets that razorsharp sells in the cargo hold. I don't know the lineage of his sculpt, but his paint application seems solid, just the colors aren't right.

Sent from my SM-G930P

Yea it's razorsharp's good eye. And no his attention to detail is great. I didn't notice the colors bein slightly off since I'm partially color blind but once my fiancé pointed it out then I started to see it. But you are right his application is solid

It looks like all the helmets he offers are painted with metallic paint. The damage stencils look decent, but the color choices shouldn't be metallic.

I agree with ya both. The helmet is great and the detail is awesome! But I'm one of those guys that likes something to be very close to accurate so it slightly bugs me so I'm going to try and paint my own up and use this one as a pattern piece. And hopefully it turns out good lol.

It could be I guess. But I don't know guess I could always ask him sometime why it looks different. Eethan does yours look the same as mine?

Hi,
yes, mine looks the same. I think there is a base grey metalic paint layer and then the colors are applied on top of that and it's giving a metalic effect to all the other colors. The green looks too dark to my eyes too but he told me it was the colors that everyone was using.
I mean, seriously, the paint job is really nice for all the details but to me it seems dark, metallic, too shiny becasue of the clear satin coat, giving a bit of a plastic effect. the black spray around the dent is really large and is adding to the dark effect and my killstripes are very blury.
I really don't want to be offensive or anythink, I think it's still great, especially for people in europe because there is no taxes involved.

The layout/stencilling looks okay and if it's that and a decent MR type cast for £350 then that's a pretty strong offering because I'd make that cheap for a finished helm. The colours look like they could be the TF humbrol list, or based on it, although tough to tell from the photo's. I'd only add that for @Ghostphoenix01 that if you are planning to paint your own helmet to strive for greater accuracy that you would be better off using the gallery and Raf's templates to inform you rather than someone elses work. I'm not denigrating Razor's work but better to copy the original rather than copying someone elses copy and I'd apply that to anyone's paintups.

Peace

Andy.

Hi,
I tried to take a few good pictures of mine to show what it looks like in details so everyone can judge more objectively.

the overal very good job even if colors might not be perfect:

the back, quite nice too:

close up of the back where for me the metalic effect due to base metallic silver is the more obvious:

bumps in the cast, don't know if they should be there or not:
P1020435.jpg

the very blurry kill stripes on mine:
P1020436.jpg

the inside, everything is held with black strong tape. The helmet is really short compared to it's width, which I supose is normal, however my head doesn't fit because of the MQ1:

the dent area, with the large sprayed black area which makes it too dark for me:

and the hand painted DV marking with some kind of marker I think as for the other markings:

cheers

The third from the last picture of the inside definitely shows your cast is warped a bit. It might be able to be reshaped without too much trouble since it appears to be a slush resin cast.

But the front to back should not be that distorted from the side to side.

there is a bit of fiberglass as well, don't know if it can be reshaped. I can kind of reshape it by hand already so maybe I would be able to do something about the warp but I need to search how to do it properly first ;)

Looks like your dome matches your cheeks better than mine. On mine the dome is a totally different shade of green it seems. But pretty much same exact paintjob.
I assume we could always repaint. Not sure if we would have to sand all existing paint or just paint on top tho.
And intwenothor I appreciate the tip I'll do that thank you!!

Hi,
well in my case I'm surely not going to paint on top of that helmet, If I wanted to paint one, I would buy a blank one, this is too expensive a piece to just repaint it!
Also, I would never paint on top of something with layered paint like this, you can already see all the layers, if you painted on top of that, that would just become a big mess.
In my case, I'm considering redoing a brand new ear and range finder with metal parts and decals and I might consider trying to improve the killstripes and trying to reshape the helmet a little bit, but apart from that I cannot do anything about the colors or the metallic effect.
cheers
