Need Help First Helmet EVER

Scarecrow

New Hunter
Hello Everyone,

Im new to this costuming stuff and need some help. I have no idea where to even start with building my helmet. I want to build a Boba Fett costume to surprise my cousin for his birthday.

Please Help,
Scarecrow

Do you have a kit already or are you looking to scratchbuild one? There are templates here on TDH and plenty of threads to follow for people building their own.

I have seen some of the posts on here (just do a search and you will get more information than you know what to do with!) where they cover it with a variety of stuff, paper machete clay, resin etc.

uh. Hmm. It should be in this thread somewhere. Several people have done it. You might search for helmet templates and see what comes up. I will try and find some later and see what I come up with.

OK, just searched for Scratchbuilt helmet and here are a couple. Hopefully this will put you on the path you need!

Here are a couple of the threads:

Looking good , 1 thing you will need to make the dome higher for *** to fit you right the Tsection should sit around 3/5ths up almost center of the helmet .

What are you planing to cast? If you make the whole helmet out of card board , you can brush a few coats of Laminating resin in it , this is the real name for fiber glass resin , you will also need a catalist, which is hardner that is mixed in to the resin to make it hard,, get this brush a few mixed coats on the inside alowing each coat to dry, (note if you are in a cold environment it will change the drying time so look in to the difrents temprature makes to the behavior of the mixed resin) After doing a few coats on the inside it should be hard and solid then do a resin coat on the out side , providing this has workeed for you recoat the inside then you can look in to laying some fiber glass matting , but dont do it be fore there are a few hardend coats on the interior.
