My Fett Helmet

So so I have been reading what everyone has said about painting their helmet and I decied it was time I got started on mine. But I don't want to have to sand down and start over so I decided practice on my old hard hat. My results were less than impressive in my mind. The paint past were I put masking pealed up as well. I could really use any advice any one could pass along.

Well, I've never used that mask myself, but I've heard good things about it, so I guess there is no drama there. The thing is from what I can see is A) the type of paint B) the finish on the helmet and C) the size of the masking. If you are using certain paints like some spray cans you might not get a good bond to the surface, which is why the finish of the helmet might not help, you really need to sand down each surface and layer of paint with wire wool and ideally airbrush with model paint. The testing of the mask looks very big in the pics and you wont get a true look with that, try tiny detailing and it will look much more realistic if thats what you want to achieve.

I appreciate the help. I see what you are talking about with the wire wool. I haven't had a chance to do anything else with it yet. Work has me a bit busy.

No I understand good. I'll have to try the humbrol. I have seen a lot of people use it. Here in south Texas it's hard if not impossible to find so I just used what I found at the hobby shop.

Also so I asked a friend of mine to help me with the rangefinder and yesterday he brought be the body that he 3d printed. Looks pretty good. View attachment 87648View attachment 87649
