This is my first post, thought i would go to Halloween Party as Boba Fett, think ive left it a bit late , anyway i'm using rafalworks templates and 5mm foam sheets , tried card but its to hard to get a curve. i've put a couple of pics of the dome in an album, also a pic of my ee-3 blaster , which took me a week, not to good at documenting work, as yet.

OK, 5 hrs later ...3 coats of pva glue mixed with cornflower on the dome to cover the foam so it can be sprayed , gotta sand down the rest of the foam as the lip is too big , back of helmet is a plastik tub

looking good.
Why cornflower? Does this make sanding and smoothing easier, since PVA is not really sandpaper friendly....

Thezeroeffect, it makes it thick and it dries hard like plastic, and it is sandable,

Thezeroeffect, no it is very hard and unflexible, good for a final coat when everything is set in place, as i found out when i tried to curve the front of the helmet now have 3 hairline cracks ) so i have started the range finder , with some success , trial and error, (or finessing ?)

i make everything out of scrap stuff i find , the range finder is a cd cover for the glass, some old square drainpipe for the body , and upvc windowsill, for the leg. i get annoyed if i have to actually buy anything.

not happy with the lens/glass, after looking at some pics, i need to find something clear and solid , without spending anything a(anyone got any ideas??

Maybe you could scrounge up a bit of perspex.... would be thicker than the CD cover and you can polish it to clear/semi-clear

Speaking of cornflower, I've heard that cornflower and silicon caulk will provide a flexible bond. Not sure how it works for sanding and/or painting though.

My nephew is in the police, he has given me some riot gear including a perspex face guard, ideal for the visor, if theres enough i will us it for the range finder, good call Thezeroeffect , just trying to scrounge some limo black windscreen tint, also toying with using a "BOOST" pop bottle , as its made of black plastic,

also spent ages making the left ear yesterday, i thought something wasnt right , the slope was backwards on the template will stick some pics up ltr) off to make the rear panel , does anyone know if its red or black, for ROTJ as the gallery shows the hero helmet as having a black panel, but the stunt helmet is red ?
