Jiggy's ESB Paint-up - Finished !

Hi guys, iv'e finally gotten around to putting some paint on my ASOK FP Budget lid.
Originally i wanted to use the cc layer as base layer but decided not to after some hairline cracks appeared after i cut out the visor.

Here's a quick shot of the bucket with layer of primer and all the parts fitted.

Anyway so far i have put down a layer of silver and then the dark grey layer.

This is my first attempt at using a airbrush and the grey humbrol color gave me bit of trouble,
because the tin's i ordered was apparently from the 1990's and before thinning it, it had the consistency of tar.

For references i had used Rafalfett's templates for the general location of the scratches but the shapes is done freehanded.

Here's some quick snaps of the eggshell white layer on the rear panels.

I had a serious problem with running paint on this one and i think it was a problem with the thinner to paint ratio.
Oh well... practice makes perfect.

Edit : if anyone have some useful tips on airbrushing feel free to reply, i have only very basic knowledge.

Did the ears today, but they are far from amazing so i might just redo then with my airbrush instead of by hand as i did here.

i would go as far as to say that the green of them plain sucks and its a eyesore.

Edit : I just had a huge brain-fart and redid the left ear.
I think it looks cleaner than before.

That certainly is the best time to stop.
You say this is the first time you have used an airbrush, are you going to paint any more lids?
Ive just bought an airbrush but i think ill be using it on model painting mostly, whats yours going to be used for mainly?

I expect to be wearing it from time to time and then maybe ill display it on a mannequin later.
Im planning to do a supertrooper lid but i think i would use some rattle can color for that tbh.

Edit :
Im gonna paint my armor pieces with my airbrush aswell.
