I think I finished my ESB Hero helmet

After 3 months of masking, buffing, masking, repeating, painting, masking, touching up, chipping off, studying, slamming fists, painting, assembling, buffing, and weathering, I think I may have taken my first bucket about as far as I can. I am very interested in feedback, good and bad. I am aware that some of the chips are not perfect, and some of the stenciling on the back plates is off. I also can see some of the scratches are too thick. I chose not to do the base grey on the helmet except for on the back plates just because the coldcast fiberglass showing through looks so good on its own. Does anything look missing, or overdone? Does this capture the spirit of the ESB Hero helmet?

I decided to hand paint every detail instead of using decals. I just wanted them to be more permanent.

Used superjedi's recipe for some of the grease stains. Thanks for posting those awesome threads(y) I look at the superjedi, Jayvee, and Terminal Fettler threads all the time.

Sometimes all of the little details do not come through in the shots. Here is a close up of the major splatter areas. I took some watered down acrylic that took forever to mix right and soaked it on a toothbrush. Then I rubbed the bristles (wearing a rubber glove) to make it fling randomly in the right areas.

Thumbs up!!! (y)
Really nice work, and you should be happy with your efforts. I like the contrast between the gray and the green
on the dome and inner cheeks. That's a hard balance to achieve sometimes. The ESB is one dirty, spattered,
stained helmet for sure!

Dude - you just made my year! Thanks

Very nice work! I'm especially envious of how well you got your visor to fit. (y)

Thanks! The visor work was not too bad. It is from T visor, and seemed to have the right shape and dimensions when it came. I spent maybe and hour or two throughout sanding the inside of the mandibles with 80 grit to make sure there were nice flat channels for the visor to fit into. One bump and the whole thing is off. Fortunately animefan has really clean casts so little things like that were very minimal.

Definitely captured the spirit of ESB. Work looks great and colors are superb.

much appreciated syllander!

Looks damn good to me, great attention to detail, I can really tell you spent a lot of blood sweat and tears on this and haven't cut any corners to just finish.
great job, very envious

Thanks guys! It feels great to get this feedback after all the work. When I was starting off with the back plates I thought it was going to be a disaster. Then, I started getting the hang of it and realizing that masking fluid can only be manipulated so much so the fine details at the end brought it together nicely. Raf's templates are the Fett helmet bible, and I could not have come close to catching everything without them.

That looks great man! If you do others, you will learn to control the masking fluid better, and get the finer lines your after, it IS possible! lol. ... but dont take that as a negative comment. It looks great, well done ...dude :D !

Superb paint job. Your many hours of hard work and meticulous detailing really show. You should be very proud
