Been looking at making this costume for 6 years, and the exchange rate is at the best I've seen it in that time, thank god for tons of work and overtime!!

try the altmanns from australia, its about $400australian, has metal parts like the DP Deluxe, colors are ok,light green, dark green back, a brick red, detailing is really rough looking with silver and dark grey ,heavy "scribing" on the surface to get that battered look, fits adult heads, front"blinker points" are colored,black and orange seen in "EMPIRE"? has a thick eye piece AND is licenced with a collector number, some guy has pulled molds to sell on eaby, the parts are not metal,the helmets a fix it yourself.

I know that my experience with selling a Fett suit was an animally in this hobby considering that it was the only suit I ever put together and painted myself but, my ESB suit was sold on eBay a few years back for just under $4000. Not to toot my own horn but the buyer even felt that it was a steal at that price. That suit was a labor of pure love and took me about a year to complete so to try and figure out a fair price compared to the labor involved was not possible. Just let me say that you get what you pay for.

The business of commissioned art and the like is pretty subjective. For example, when I was the building photographer at the Target Center (where the MN Timberwolves play basketball) here in Minneapolis, I was paid $300 per hour to shoot events. As an illustrator, I was paid $500 per piece, I painted athletes from various sports to be sold as lithographs displayed with a trading card and window matted for framing.

IMO, the artisans here are providing a service and should be paid market value for their service and if you can't afford to have someone else do the work for you then do it yourself. Go down to your local art supply store and buy all the materials...paints, bushes, thinners, glues masking materials and oh yes, don't forget the airbrush! Price tag? Now let me here you complain about the price gouging by TDH members. I thought so.

I droped 200 for the helmet, and about to drop 150 for the paint. I know I cant paint and its been years since ive been behind a air brush and I really dont want to take that chance to screw it all up becaues I know I will. Ill gladly send it to someone to paint it before I paint it. As far as I look at it, its the helmet that makes it all. The armors got to look good but the helmets got to look great.

Good things that stuff got worked out between you guys..

But the way i see it, it is as simple as economics (a contradiction in terms i know... )

Supply vs. Demand

The more there are who offer a service/products the lower the price.. and vice versa.

My finished Mystery Helmet cost me $450 shipped. It is really cool, I think it looks nice to.

I can see both sides of the story here...
but...
Considering how aggresive your posting was and being aimed at some of the very talented people here at TDH who force nothing onto to no-one...
only offering people help with things they cannot do for themselves...
I think you should be "giving an apology" as well Darthbish...
not just accepting them...

Then everyone can just accept it is a topic spoken about and has been agreed to disagree...
