Helmet I.D assistance, please?

I've been talking to someone who has this helmet for sale - He's not sure of it's origins, but when accused of it being a repainted DP by other forum users, he vehemently denied it.

I know there's not much to go on, but can anyone here please help with I.D. of this bucket?
He's after about US$230 for it...

I don't know much about helmets and the like; I bought it because I liked it. Still do.

Maybe someone knowledgable can chime in with more info if the mask looks familiar.

The mask is full-sized, has a re-done visor and an aluminum range finder, a great weathered paint job and is 100% solid - not bendy material.

2 things - it looks in the first picture like the visor might be bent, I assure you it's not...it's a trick of the light. Neither is the back uneven...it's sitting on a comfy ottoman.

I don't want to rush into anything and end up being ripped off... But my birthday present last YEAR was meant to be a Fett helmet, and the one my fiancé ( Girlfriend at the time :) ) was going to buy ended up being withdrawn from sale. Since then, every one I've chased, I've missed :(

Help, please? :)

im sure thats a DP regular helmet.

Dent looks to be the regular DP, as does the deep set visor & it even has the mandible sag that happens when you cut out the visor to install the replacment visor. Pics 1 & 2 clearly show the top of the mandibles curving in.

If as hes saying its not vinyl then it might be a fibreglass copy of a reg DP 95.

Hmm... So not really worth going after, then? :(

I take it from what I've read around here that the DP Jango is a lot more accurate?
And can be repainted?

Or what do you suggest? I don't mind painting it myself, and AFAIK my fiance's budget is around US$50 - US$200 depending on the quality ( Obviously, the cheaper the better... )

Thanks!

IF you are plannin on spending that much money you might want a fiberglass one that you can make using the contacts, and info found here @ TDH.

To me, it looks like a DP95 that is a little off. They are known for having warping issues. Just my $.02.

Well, it's not a case of "Planning to spend that much money"...
Ideally, we want what everyone wants - As good a helmet as possible, for as little cash as possible. Ideally, something payable over a few months, too.

Fibreglass would be great ( Since no way could we afford an aluminium helm! ).

I don't mind painting the helmet myself, either. So long as it's not undersized and crappy I'm happy!

IT is a DP, how do I know? If you look at the back angle you can see the telltale stamp on the lower right of the helmet. ITs not worth 230 unless it was painted by afettfullofdollars, which His is the best DP I've even seen.

I mean seriously He didnt even bondo over the stamp and displays it yet denies its a DP? well it is.

Its a DP for sure, and I agree with the comments that for that money you could get a good quality fiberglass bucket, hope you find what your looking for!

Can't see the stamp, even in PhotoShop - but the "Squished" look to the back of it made me suspect DP.
I didn't think that DPs flared forward so much, though?

Still, I'll be passing. Thank you for your info!
Prymer - PM replied to via email :) Cheers!

Definitely a DP standard, probably a '95. Tell tale signs: the deeply recessed visor & the left cheek has an outward warp. The mandibles are bent outward at the bottom, that's not an optical illusion! That is a trick to give the helmet an ESB flare. If you look real close at the back of the helmet, you can even see where the copyright information is! For $90 more, buy a piece of history & get Bobbywan's MSH-1

Look at the rangefinder. Notice how it is dipping downward? Not the stalk, the black box thingy. The bottom square piece should be level. Looks like it was installed to the stalk improperly.
