DP size

Hm... I just registered and was about to ask a very similar question. The only DP helmets that I can find are on the net, so I can't try any on. I have seen Rubies helmets at a local halloween shop, but they were so small that they could hardly be worn as hats.

Anyhow, it looks as if the DP helmets are also a bit small for me. I know the measurement'll be slightly innaccurate, but I did measure about 26 or 27 inches, quite over the above-mentioned measurement.

That being said, are there no other larger-sized helmets around? Would be a shame for my costuming escapades to be cut so short.

I don't know about the DP deluxe, but many other fiberglass helmets are larger. Do a search for MLC helmet and you should find plenty of info. I believe the MLC1 is the largest helmet available.

Alright, thanks. Im still looking around at the stuff, and it looks as though it certainly would fit (heh), but I still won't be able to get one immediately. I think it'd be a better idea to just get a less expensive one to practice my color scheme on, initially, and then get a head-fitting one later.

That's what I did; practiced on a few DPs before doing my fiberglass bucket.

Dp deluxe is slightly bigger than a DP 95, i'd say DP 22 inch head Deluxe up to 24. To big of a helmet doesnt look right on small frames.

Ok. This may sound like a stupid question but here goes. Where exactly on your head are you people measuring? Across the forehead or even on the head around the nose? Hope that makes sense.

Rick

Around your nose since it fits over it, its not a hat so measuring just around the crown of your head wont give you an accurate fit

Thanks for the help. With my big noggin' being 24", what would be the sized helmet? I've seen people listing their height, weight, builds so I'm 6'00", 190 lbs, pretty decent shape for a 35 year old.

Dp 95 will fit you pretty well my head size is 22, 24 around nose/ears/ and all so you should be ok. As for the deluxe I dont recommend them, just something about that helmet doesnt looks right. There is no flare to it at all, at least with the vinyl ones you can shape it a bit.

The holy grail imo is the mystery helmet, or a custom mold from one of the TDH members here that is very close to the mystery mold.

I just measured the inside of the dp97,and my altmann's re-sculped f/g.
Mine is 24and a half inches,the dp97 is 24 inches.
Mine has the correct shape dome, unlike the flatter dp,and it looks a lot less 'squat' than the dp.
Even though it's only half an inch bigger, the f/glass lid is thinner than the nearly quarter inch thick dp,and a much better fit.
Funny thing is,my lids are almost the same size as the 'mystery helmet'.........I know my re-sculpt would be slightly larger, but the measurements of the MSH are almost an exact match to mine.......How can that be?

Lol...thanx Scott..........lol...........
Although my sculpt is 'softer' line-wise than the real thing,it looks hot with a good paint job.
I'm actually working on new molds(as you know)and I might 'monster-size' the new helm, this time around.
I have a buddy who is a large man with a big head, and his nose touches the visor,so I might make a larger sculpt.
I own 2 altmann's,one is around 10 yrs old,pre-licence,and it's a lot better sculpt than the numbered LFL approved altmann's,which I always call 'the bloody ugly altmann's',because it IS bloody ugly,so I'll be ruining that one this time.

Besides head size, it matters with body size too. Proportionately, I have a DP '95, and that actually fits perfectly with my skinny frame. If I had a much larger helmet, I think it would be way too large vs. my shoulder width. Yes, I know that the movie helmets did look kinda bobble-heady on Jeremy Bulloch in some stills we've seen, but I've had enough people tell me my helmet fits my frame really well, so take those sorts of things under consideration as well.

Quite right. My bucket is a DP '96 (reshaped and reflared of course). I'm a smaller sized guy too, 5'10" 150 lbs. I recently posted some new pics in the Sarlacc Pit. Take a look, and see what you think. IMO I think it fits my size just right, but I might be biased...
