Hello, this is my newly purchased Don Post 1997, bucket bought from eBay. What do you think? The paint job isn't extremely bad, but i'm deciding wether to repaint it or not. Also the range finder has been removed and sanded down, this puzzled me :rolleyes any suggestions? Thanks for looking

That is one of the better looking DP 97's I have seen. I would leave it as is, paint wise, put in the hoop for flare and find yourself a rangefinder. Do a search for rangefinder.

The rangfinder housing has been sanded down to the point the plastic has a hole in it from to much sanding. Why it was done I have no idea. I would repaint it, and shape it up a little more, its warped badly in places.

Just an opinion, but the rangefinder housing was probably sanded down to make the earcap fit more flush with the lower part of the 'ear'. But I could be totally wrong. I would remove the visor since it has glue squeezed through on the outside, and replace it with a new one. Oh, and repaint it.

They grinded it down for some reason.. I wonder why. That would have left room for the range finder antenna to sit in and move up and down. You will have to build it up. My suggestion would be to make some pieces out of sintra and fasten it to the helmet. Your best bet will be to make the antenna stationary.

???? huh? :confused

Thanks for the suggestions people, might follow em up, my plan for the range finder is to place a screw through the range finder hole, then fill in the unnecessary gaps, good idea or not? Give me guidance, i'm a rookie at this!

I know this is an older thread, but I just now noticed the hole on the helmet. I think I know how this happened since mine has the exact same thing. I have a 95 Don Post and when I tried pulling the earpiece off, I didn't quite get all the glue off and it was bonded so strong it pulled a piece of the helmet off with it. I've since patched mine up with bondo.
