bmx potty + filler = helmet?

At last! It stopped raining and the sun came out just long enough for a few pics(y) This just popped out of the mould an hour ago, i've given it a quick buff with a foam sanding block and cut out the visor. The T visor is just held in with tape for effect. I'm going to slightly up the alu powder mix on the next potty to see how far i can take the finish. Next i'm going to make a borden and cold cast in bronze to give it that gold glint....Hope you enjoy the pics.....

(Are those helms battle tested?)

Wow. I have great timing.

I haven't posted in a long time (and when I did, it certainly wasn't often), and I was just about to post asking what helmets were still for sale these days.

Now, I come on, and I see this masterpiece...

Dude, name a price already!

 :love (y) SWEEEEEET!!!! Dude, please tell me you're going to sell these! And please tell me you'll still be selling these when I start my ESB Fett!!! That is awesome! Wicked cool sculpt, cold cast aluminum, awesome rangefinder...:wacko

Sorry for being newb-ish, but is cold cast any different to paint? Do you have to use special paints, or will any paint do?

Again, GREAT job!

How hard is it to trim stuff off of cold cast stuff? i.e. cutting out the visor. Is it like cutting resin or like cutting metal?

Cold cast is no more difficult to cut or sand than a resin with a regular filler, its purely the nature of the alu. filler which gives the metallic finish. I've painted both acrylics and enamels onto this stuff with good results....
