BatNinja's Helmet Progress

Early last week, I decided to revive my helmet project by painting the dome and lower cheeks. I also painted the base color (concrete) on the back quarter, as I intend to do a layering style on that section.

DarthMiller, evan4217, BobaFit and I spent Sunday afternoon in Spidey-Fett's garage. We were able to paint a few more pieces. Many thanks to Spidey-Fett for the help with his weathering techniques!

I also worked on the range finder by tapping screw holes into the top of the stalk and securing the pieces with size 3 metric screws. I have one of TDH member Bobo's LED kits which fits entirely in the RF topper (no need for wiring down to the helmet), which I'll install later.

The flash really does change the look of the colors, doesn't it? :)

I hope to paint the armor, left ear and upper cheeks in the next week or so, so I can start weathering.

The LEDs are indeed activated by a Mercury switch. I'll try to take better pictures, but you can see the tube off to the right of the circuit board in the top pic. There's also an extra blue LED that points back toward the viewing lens which throws a blue glow on the helmet in the down position.
