You guys are gonna have to tell me where to find some glass cases like those. They make all the difference for displaying items.

If I had a display room, I couldn't let anyone in it. Someone or something would break something. AND SO it sits in the workshop. And the occasional seasoning of dust adds to weathering of the completed costumes.

Some of my random helmets and replicas are in a glass case, but it's not really a display room and it shares space with other glass cases with Superbowl and world series stuff.

We've been thinking of a home theatre room with all our stuff displayed. We've been shooting ideas for the last 3 years. We have the same problem with finding good display cases like Arturo's. Can ya give us a hint? I don't like the fact that the ones from ikea are too shallow. They have great shelves for mounting on the wall, but we haven't seen any glass ones deep enough for helmets with a light source. Like the idea of the grid display too, but I am not sure it would go with the aesthetics of the theatre/kids with grabby hands. We're more for glass cases that lock ;) We don't have cats, but would love for a glass case to fit a mannequin where the kiddies and their friends won't touch the stuff. We don't care much about action figurines but with the busts and artillery, we don't want the kiddies to handle. We have like 3 long showcases, but I like the tall tower/like ones. Tips and hints please ;)

One of my cats is smart enough to break out! *The other isn't!*

Ikea has lots of shelves and cabinets of different sizes... ya just gotta look through their catalog. If you don't mind spending $$$ PotteryBarn has some great stuff too. (Look through their sale items or if you've got a store near you, their scratch & dent! ) PotteryBarn Kids and PotteryBarn Teens, as well as Crate & Barrel are other alternatives.

Well, I had a shrine back when I lived on the hill, for most of 2005 as a final adeu with Sith and all. It looked totally cool at night when I fired up the MR lightsabers. I finally took down it after taking to much flak from then girlfriend Jessica, and other "dates", after I broke that off. I can't begin to tell you all how very lucky you are to have spouses that let you do this and support your fandom :cheers(y) Makes me envious and I am not envious by nature LOL! Here are a few pics, plus a couple of pics of my current "display" of which I am hiding, I will spring the Star Wars thing on them latter....lol: Mind you all too, this was before CIII, before I had any clue about this costumimg stuff and subculture; so the next display I build will take over an entire room or basement and all my costumes will be mannequined:cheers!

How about putting the kids and cats inside a locking glass case?
Then you can display all your stuff worry-free!

Doh!

Found it in the Ikea catalog. Thanks! I think that Cmdr Voltaire needs to come outta the closet!

I was the convert...I don't know why...I was never a Star Wars fan really, just followed hubby's interest in costuming because of the creativity aspect.

hahaha! I "walked" into that one! Been out of the closet for along time here dear, I will find her, until then, I will have to just hide it out! then I will get everything out of those boxes like Mr. Webchief, AND then outta of that dang closet!

Once I move, I'm gonna have a 'room' as well-- as it stands now, I just pile stuff neatly on every available surface.

I have a lot of Star Wars stuff but most of it is scattered. The only focused area I have is my Bossk collection. I have all my out of package figures on one shelf. All my in-package stuff is in boxes. I swear, I'm gonna get that room, then everything will be all displayed at once.

Anyways, here's the 'Bossk Shelf':

oh yes Bossk (y)
Probably the bounty hunter tied for me with the "cool factor" :cheers
I never realized there was SOOOO many different figures

What is the poster of????

The poster is actually for a Nintendo DS game called 'Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupee Land.' It's nothing Star Wars related.
