TDH: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Wollack: I am a mid-30s artist with a background in architecture. Born and raised on the island of Maui and currently living in the foot hills of the Great Smokey Mountains with my wife and three dogs. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from a number of different cultures and surroundings. Monday I may be working with fiberglass or resins, the next day I’ll be designing a lake house and the day after that I may be painting portrait or climbing a mountain. It’s an exciting life and I intend to live it to its fullest.

TDH: What drew you to the As You Wish Helmet Project?

Wollack: As an artist I have the obsessive need to create and an overwhelming desire to help those less fortunate. The As You Wish project brings both of these things together. Seeing the previous events like this and the amazing results have been an ongoing inspiration for me, both artistically and spiritually.

TDH: What was your inspiration for Epimetheus Fett?

Wollack: In short it was HR Giger’s style that we saw in the 1979 movie ALIEN and later in the film Prometheus that inspired me the most. He had a certain look/feel that established science fiction horror to our generation. It literally is what nightmares are made of. The biomechanical concept, flesh and steal. Is it organic, is it a machine, does it have a soul, does it have a battery?

TDH: Tell us a little about the process of creating this helmet.

Wollack: Everything starts with a vague thought, an idea or a concept. This is where it starts. It may come in a dream or be inspired by multiple components that are rearranged in a new manner, or simply viewed from a new vanish point. To me this is foundation of every project and possibly the most important step. Once that was established, I sketched it out and simply built it… that was the easy part.

TDH: Now that the helmet is finished, if there is one thing you could change or do differently, what would it be?

Wollack: I would have loved to work with a bigger company/studio. With the right resources we could have taken this project to the next level!

TDH: With your helmet finished, what is your next project?

Wollack: I just wrapped up a HP Lovecraft themed art show in Nashville and am currently working on several paintings, props and designs. My life is my primary project though and it is continuously evolving.
