Nah, I had my gf record me from about 6-10 feet away using the voice changer. With and without some sort of helmet/mask. I still heard my voice pretty easily in the recording. It WAS the spirit halloween voice changer, so I didnt expect top-notch quality.
I think the best bet would be a good recorder that amplifies the voice quite a bit, so you can talk quietly and still have a decent output. Also with effects n such, and without costing a ridiculous amount of money. Dare to dream lol.
