Various questions about everything

Neo Fett

Active Hunter
Figured this was the best way to ask a bunch of questions...

Everything is ROTJ.

I'm wanting to slowly upgrade my Fett but I want to know the prices for some parts so I know what I need to save for.
Bonus points for linking to who sells them.

- Aluminium Gauntlet Darts
- Aluminium Knee Darts
- Aluminium Rocket
- Aluminium RF Stalk (Probably solid)
- Aluminium JP parts (beacon and adjuster knob)
- Any other suggested aluminium parts

- Found parts for shin tools

- Wireless Servo for RF

- Real dental files

I also have some other questions,
1. What's the best thing to put in pouches to make them look full?
2. Best way to weather a flight suit? Can you weather it too much? I've been using light coats of spray paint.
2a. How much weathering does the flack vest get if any?
3. What goes in front of the chest display to dull it down?
4. How to weather a girth belt?

I think that's everything

For the metal parts I would recommend MCR. MCR is also going to be selling hollow aluminum RF stalks soon to.

But since you have RKD armor you could also get the machined knee darts from him as well.

I can't post a link since it'll be to an ebay listing but Mojo_skywalker on ebay normally does have hollow aluminum RF stalks to. He also has the adjustment knobs for the anti-security blade in aluminum.

The rest of the found parts (specifically the sonic beam weapon and survival knife) can still be bought online at photography stores or amazon.

Do some searching and you may be able to find them cheaper and since you're going ROTJ the chemical stirrer/survival knife isn't required.

For the servo I would recommend JC27.

I can't help with real dental files but they do come up in the cargo hold occasionally. You could also use the 3d printed ones from Raf or Toolguy.

Here is what I can contribute. Hope it helps.

1. What's the best thing to put in pouches to make them look full? Foam - a poly or a high density foam, cut to shape.
2. Best way to weather a flight suit? An acrylic/water mix wash, sprayed on to a wet/damp flightsuit. I also used shoe polish (for the legs on my ESB). Can you weather it too much? Maybe, maybe not...Use reference photos so you don't :) I've been using light coats of spray paint.
2a. How much weathering does the flack vest get if any? Enough so it looks "used"...Use reference photos....
3. What goes in front of the chest display to dull it down? Not sure you would want it dulled down. You need a good bright display to be seen in bright light conditions and photos.
4. How to weather a girth belt? Acrylic and water via a spray bottle.

Thank you! Water and acrylic paint, got it haha.

As for the display someone told me I needed something overtop.

Great job by those above, for your other questions;

The squeegee will also give you the handle of the anti-security blade, mojo-skywalker on ebay also usually has the replica Michell Engineering Stylus Brush rods used as the anti-security blade rods. I cut the blade part out of 5mm. thick pressed board using RafalFett's template.

Lots of folks use foam rubber or similar for stuffing their pockets, and I've redone mine from the old socks I used at first. That way you can cut it into shapes so it looks like you have actual things in there, and I've got a bit hollowed out to hold the speaker from my helmet mike and a spot to hold my wallet and car keys.

You can go overboard with weathering, so be careful. If you do, sometimes you can wash it (either machine or by hand) to scrub some out. I used acrylic paints (brown, black, tan, and a bit of red) from my airbrush (but spray paint should work fine as well) onto wet fabric a little at a time, let it dry, then inspect it in full sunlight. I went through that for or five times before I thought I had enough (but not too much).

Same method for the flak vest, spraying a bit in the areas not covered by the armor pieces, especially under the arms and around the collar.

Over my chest display I have a bit of smoke-colored plastic, usually used for tinting your car windows, but I've seen some folks saying it should be a red-colored piece. 501st just requires something translucent.

I have a woodman girth belt, and I just rinsed it with water a couple of times, but haven't really added any weathering.

Hah, good one L3 -- I type too slow!

For the chest display get a piece of red acrylic...works like a charm. It gets ride of the bright pink you see on some displays and becomes a solid red color.

Also don't forget the left guantlet LED and plunger switches on the flamethrower.

I think I have all the LEDs and switches but a second opinion would be nice

Sorry man, it's all about the Empire Strikes Back Boba!

It was a toss up between ROTJ and ESB! Maybe one day I'll build an ESB too....

Switches and LED look fine, there are some minor painting issues with the gauntlets and you are missing the fake switch on the left gauntlet (since you are not using a real one).

All that time studying the gauntlets and I never noticed that switch. Where can I find one?

As for the paint, I did my best haha, that was try #2.

I sell little light kits that are functional for left gauntlets. I use simple 3 way switches for it (as does most others who want a functional LED on the gauntlet).

The paint job isn't bad. Some details are incorrect, specifically the dental expander is red not silver. Hopefully this image (which also shows the non-functional switch) helps some. The color red is correct you just need to give it a good wash to make it darker as shown below.

Thanks, it's kind of hard to tell from the image but is this switch close enough?

I don't think it's a switch at all, I think it's just a piece that got put on there. Pretty sure I've seen another shot of that left gaunt without it.

Also Zenix, I've got the metal darts for the right gaunt, thought I sold them to you?

The switch slides...its a sliding toggle of some sort....with a squared off switch not rounded.....

Really?!? My time to learn something for the day -- I always thought it was just another dental file, broken off and replaced by that funky squared-off bit for the exhibits... That's the spot where the battery door from the MQ-1 goes on the original, isn't it?

I don't have braids on mine but in reading other threads I think others use fishing line to tie them up?
Generally fishing line but I know a few that used thin craftimg wire as well. I personally suggest fishing line.
