ok. some people like the prequals, and some people hate them. yet isn't this just getting a little silly?

It's like an epic case of beating a dead horse. Sheesh, people need to let it go and enjoy Star Wars for being Star Wars.

But it's so much fun to complain about!!:lol:lol:
I've recently come to the realization that I actually like feeling miserable about it. It's pretty much the only thing I moan about on a consistent basis.
I don't know what I would talk about without it.:cheers

I'm not into the endless campaign against George Lucas as if he was evil incarnate but I am looking forward to seeing Gary Kurtz talk about Star Wars, you just don't see enough of him. I think he's a big reason Star Wars and Empire were as good as they were.

There was a special " something ", a magical quality that was present in the original trilogy that was absent in the prequels. I don't think they're bad movies (being gracious), it's just that "something" is missing. I feel that strangely the same thing has happened to Spielberg's work. Compare Close Encounters and Raiders of the Lost Ark with War of the Worlds. Maybe somebody should do a documentary on him too. ;)

The problem with many films in the sci-fi/super hero genre today is that they focus too much on the special effects and less on the characters. The CGI is usually too over the top and it detracts from the story somewhat. I also think the producers feel that if they have all this great CGI, then people don't care as much about the story. That is why they fall short in their offering. One movie (and sequal) that has done a good job of balance in that regard is Batman Returns.
