The Nature of the EE-3

I was thinking about that one scene in Jedi where Boba aims his EE-3 at Luke:

I'm going to speak about this as though all that happens within the films happens for a reason and not because an actor was tired or that someone else forgot to put something back in the exact same spot the last time they filmed the scene or someone didn't know how to operate a prop or whatever...

My question is what is going on with Boba's left arm? The scene plays out with Boba grabbing the EE-3 behind the grip, like on top of the D bracket. What an odd place to hold to control recoil. Or does it more say something about the recoil from the blast: that it is other-worldly? Wouldn't it still be better to have the left be as forward of a control point as possible? Or maybe the barrel gets too hot from the blast? Or maybe he is operating whatever the LMK aerial earth plugs are used for with his thumb? He does not operate the EE-3 in ESB in this same manner. Any suggestions on the hand placement?

Its the only way to get Boba, the EE3 and a good look at the hero costume all in frame if you try and hold it like a rifle you end up all bunched together and looks like you are holding a tiny little gun with your back to the camera as the EE3 it's self is not all that big when you have all the amour on, and plus he looks more like a gun slinger this way almost like a cowboy sort of look to it.

I have held this thing in many poses and holding it in one hand with the stock pressed into the shoulder and the left hand over where the hammer would be not only feels better but looks better over say the more traditional way of holding modern combat rifle.

There's only one logical reason and it is connected to what happens next in that scene: Luke chops off half of Fett's blaster with his lightsaber. If Boba had his left hand on the barrel he would certainly lose it. So this is more a behind the scene thing and not related to the blaster or how you hold it. It was simply a way of holding the blaster required by the scene to avoid Boba Fett to lose his left hand.

In the Jabba's palace scene he has no problems of holding the blaster barrel:
