Making a mold/cast

I have a question? I have scratch built several costume parts but I have never made a mold for anything ? I know nothing about it. My question is what is the process in making a mold where I could reproduce a piece . ? I have a piece of trim on a car that I can no longer buy that I need a few of . If this is in the wrong section then I'll move it ! Thanks

I recommend brickintheyard YouTube video tutorials. They have great techniques and are very easy to understand.
Good luck!

Also, for hard to find auto parts try rockauto.com.
I've had pretty good luck with them in the past.

I used the tested.com video on how to make a lightsaber to learn basic mold making and casting. After that you just have to practice. What is the car part you are looking to reproduce? Asking both cause I may be able to find it for you plus in order to give correct mold making advice you need to know the shape etc

it is a ground effect from a 2001 mustang bullitt. it is a specific piece that is no longer produced by ford or anyone else.
