Mu-ha-ha-ha!!
I've recently enrolled with Embry-Riddle University to try to finish my Bachelor degree while I'm still on active duty in the Air Force. The education counselor went through the degree program with me and we figured out which classes I would need.
She mentioned that several of the more general subjects I needed were available as either CLEP or DSST tests. (The DSSTs are what used to be known as DANTES tests.)
I knew I would be able to pass a couple of those, so I signed up to take tests for "Drug and Alcohol Abuse" (for credit in the Humanities area) and "English Composition with Essay" (for English credit. . . obviously )
I got my results back recently and passed both of them by a pretty good margin! So basically I got 6 semester hours of credit in only a couple of hours of testing. :D
I'm reviewing a little bit for my next DSST test for "Introduction to Computers." I should pass that one with no problem, too.
The best part. . . CLEP/DSST are free for active duty military!! Woot! (y)

:cheers Congrats,sir :cheers
Somewhat off topic but your post kind off goes with the news I got today.
I found out today how many classes I have to take to complete my degree that I dropped out on 17 years ago(yes,..I know I was stupid ) so I can gain employment with my states Wildlife Conservation program.
After 17 class I get my degree.
I have to wait until the summer program.I missed spring registration by one day,my luck.
Atleast I know what to prepare for.

What degree is that? I ask because that is the field I would like to go into, and am just starting my second semester.

Lopero, that's close to the number of classes I'll need. I'm starting an "Intro to Physics" class on Monday which will run for 8 weeks. After I take that, and CLEP the computer credits, I should only have 16 classes left for my degree.

Team Fett, it's called Professional Aeronautics. It's basically a business degree that puts focus on the aviation industry. My upper level classes will involve a lot of aviation/transportation safety information, and aviation standards. Things like that. It's a nationally recognized Aviation University, and I'm hoping with this degree, and 20+ years in the Air Force, I'll be able to get a good job with an aviation firm. :)

Nice. My brother just got a job at Lockheed, he won't be working in aviation, but I do know that they're great with that sort of stuff.

Does this mean you are up in Prescott now?

No, Scott, they have a really good relationship with the Air Force, and have "branches" at pretty much every Air Force base. I'm taking classes down here in Tucson.
Hopefully when I graduate, I'll be able to talk to Chinese student pilots on the radio. (That was a funny story!)

Testing out of classes is one of the greatest things ever.
I did it for a couple of classes when I was working on my Bachelors - Love 'em!
LOVE 'EM!
