Hi guys,
wondering has anyone else the same trouble as me,when I troop I have my Darkside beacon switched on currently I'm using a duracel 9v battery but I'm lucky to get over an hour outa it then it dies,is there stronger battery's are is there something I'm doing wrong?...replaced the original battery casein to the 9v one as the other was just as bad :-/ .......all advise welcome..thanks

Hmmmm.....

My MachineCraft beacon runs off a 9V battery and I haven't changed it yet. It's been about 15 hours. I think it's an LED though which doesn't use as much juice. What kind of bulb is the Darkside beacon?

Yeh dude, thought about switching to led but the bulb is excellent & it's so bright so it's just sapping all the juice :-/

You could look for a nicad or nimh rechargeable battery pack. Alkaline 9v batteries only have a capacity mAh rising of around 500. Try a lithium 9v, those have around 2000 mah.

While we're on the topic, I'm trying to decide between an LED and the more accurate non-LED. Any thoughts if you had to do it again? I like the pulsing light idea, but it's not screen accurate (as far I know). Battery life is only sort of an issue for me.

What is the voltage requirement for the incandescent bulb for the beacon?

For me, i've tried to get away from ALL 9 volt batteries. They never last. Switch over to AA's

I really like the idea of an actual bulb but if the draw is simply too much it can be impractical. Is using a warm white LED a possibility? Much smaller draw, less heat, and so on. Just a thought.
