Fett Wood Carving

Blastech

Well-Known Hunter
Hey gang. It's been a while since I've been around here, but I thought I'd share with you my most recent creation. Since February or so I've been enjoying carving wood. Kinda combines my fondness for drawing and sculpting with the pressures of not messing up. This is my second finished carving, much smaller than my first, but he stands about 7" tall without the base. It's carved from 2 blocks of Northern Bass wood, has a moving right arm and thrusters. Stained with linseed oil and then washed with acrylics. Took about a month and a half of working here and there. It's titled "Journeyman Protector". Sorry for the lacking pics, but I hope you like it!

Just realised he's wearing a pre-pro eyes helmet... Doubly cool! :)

Yeah, My favorite pictures of Boba Fett seem to be with the eyes helmets and capes draped across. I like to think of this carving as a young Fett, back when he carried around his tuning fork thing and looked like the old Pre Pro suits.

I need some better photos, but a lot of the details (the eyes, boots) are burned in, btw.

No, you can't have this one, but I am ordering some things to make a few casts.

Nope, Jango isn't on my to do list (There were more than 3 SW movies???) but Superman, TMNT, and the Rocketeer are. :D

That's really great. Love the progress pics! You're very skilled.

If you're into carving, have you ever tried using jewelry wax as a medium? You can get crazy detail, and you can splice broken pieces together with heat. It's really fun to work with. You could even cast this in wax and continue refining.

When you get the casts done, are you going to reproduce these in a resin medium? If so, how much $ ? I'd definetely want one depending on price.

Yes, I will be casting them in resin. Price isn't determined yet, but I'll probably order resin and silicone this week.

Really nicely carved! Ive done a few relief carvings but nothing
3D. :cheers Very natural looking -perfect proportion ......
you're good :)
Any pics of the first one you did?
Mike
