Episode VII Trailer (Spoilers)

i think someone said the saber design was for close combat..like when the sabers are "locked" a twist of the handle can damage your opponents hand..or dare i say, cut it off lol. But that's something i just heard someone say...no idea if there is any truth to that .

As far as the teaser/movie...I always go into any new Star Wars anything knowing that nothing will be as good as the original trilogy...and that there is a certain nostalgic feeling associated with the originals that will just never be there for
me with anything new that is Star Wars. Its just different times and trying to recreate the feeling any of us had seeing Star Wars as a kid is just not going to happen, at least not for us adults that saw SW in 77/80/83 or so.

For EP7 they used real props , built ships, and sets, and costumes...thats more than can be said for the prequels. And lets be honest, they have to make a modern looking movie so certain CG aspects have to be there to get an audience these days. We cant look at it as "its just not Star Wars" like a few folks on social media seem to be saying....its not 1977, 1980 or 1983, its not the old Star Wars...and it never will be, this IS a NEW movie..and we need to look at it that way. So with that in mind, Ep 7 looks pretty good to me based on the new teaser trailer. We shall see how it turns out.

I LOVE absolutely everything about the trailer. I hated the saber when a picture was leaked of it a while back, but seeing it in the hands of the Sith, his crazy walk, and the overdriven effect on the blade.... da da da da da I'm lovin' it.

The only thing I am not crazy about is the chase cam on the Falcon. I'm cool with chase shots now and again, but I hope they use that sparingly in the film. I just prefer stabilized camera views personally.

I'm so pumped!

Sorry guys, I can't stop thinking about this stuff, lol. I wonder if the lightsaber wielder in the teaser was Luke? It seems that a lot of the leaked concept art was true and their is a painting of a hooded, partially masked guy with a mechanical right hand holding the charred remains of Vaders helmet. Not saying it IS Luke, but the possibility is intriguing. Luke was the one who burned his father's armor on Endor afterall. There have also been the rumors of Ep VII Luke having been in hiding for many years after ROTJ. I'm just spitballing here.

There are some extremely solid rumors that came out addressing who that villain is, and it even shows them from the front.

I haven't heard the rumors myself. I know that Adam Driver is supposed to be a villain but that's about it.

There's a picture out there that came out about a month ago. There were some rumors that accompanied it. I don't want to spoil anything for anybody, but it's out there.

... and from what I've seen in the rumors, I'm really looking forward to the story.

Any chance you could PM me the link to the rumors?

Well said Lou, it's impossible to recapture the Feel of the OT, different times and all. Those stormies are awesome! Very excited as well. And indeed it is a GREAT day for all Star Wars fans.

Not sure where I read it but someone made a suggestion that the Millennium Falcon had changed regarding the dish area, wouldn’t that make sense in ROTJ she loses her dish, and this movie being after ROTJ would have that area repaired or upgraded (with apparently a box shaped thing)

Yeah, it does make sense. I've read that the new rectangular sensor is a callback to the sensor on the Tantive IV.
After all, the Tantive IV design was originally the "pirate ship" concept for the Falcon.

One thing that would have made this 100 times better for me was if it ended with a shot of Luke, *snap hiss* green lightsaber.... then fade to black!

Wow.....I can just smell the hot glue guns warming up and clear coats being applied to new costumes....Think of ALL the new stuff we will have to craft once this baby hits the big screen. Totally stoked!

for the most part i liked the trailer, the pre deployed trooper shots were neat. (the new tk lid is beginning to grow on me) Not a big fan of soccer ball R2 unit. I am curious as to why the rebel alliance symbol is still being used. Black nervous storm trooper on tattooine with a probe droid, ? not sure where thats going. And i guess the saber is ok. there was different styles in the movies like mauls, and dokus . I guess its user preference.

I reakon JJ is going to reinvigorate the franchise and give the little tuckers of today that same awe-jaw dropping experience we all felt when that imperial star destroyer passed over our little pin heads back in 1977. Supa stoked that the next generation are going to experience this.... plus a Boba film is a must naturally

Sorry bcurtis. It was a pretty busy weekend. If you haven't looked it up already, I'll try and dig up the links. There are a few different ones in the Ep7 RPF thread. I'll PM them to you once I find them.
