"Down in a Hole" Sarlacc Edition

Active Hunter
Ok, so I was listening to iTunes in my office today while reading through the forums when "Down in a Hole" by Alice in Chains came on. I have listened to this song hundreds of times over the years but it never occurred to me, until today, that the lyrics closely resemble the tragic demise of our favorite bounty hunter in ROTJ. A quick, and fruitless, online search into this connection left me no other choice but to take my subnormal skills and create a video to bring this story to the world. It's pretty lame actually but I hope it'll at least give you a chuckle at the very least OR blow your mind at the very....most? idk.

Pretty cool dude. AIC is one of my fav bands. I was lucky and saw them at lolapalooza in 93. AIC, tool, rage against the machine, it was awesome. Layne is one of my top 3 favorite singers.

The harmonies that he and Cantrell came up with were like no other. So badass. Never got to go to a show for them, but certainly saw Tool and Rage a few times. Ahh the 90's. I miss it.

man, Lolapalooza in August with Primus/Tool/Rage/AIC, Bad Religion in September, Nirvana in October (only real show ever in AZ) and Pearl Jam in November. late '93 was the pinnacle of my musical enlightening. its all been pretty much downhill from there lol they just don't make em like they used to.

Sent from my R2 unit

Me too. AIC actually did a local club gig right before facelift went huge. I wasn't old enough to get in, but my brother saw them and actually talked to Layne and jerry for a few minutes. It might have been when mike star was the bassist, I'm not sure I will have to ask him. This was probably 89-90 maybe. Not sure when star was kicked out of AIC.
Lolapalooza was awesome. It was an outdoor concert outside of Pittsburgh PA. AIC was the headliner and right before they played man in the box Layne said the crowd was crazy and then it got really crazy; fires and people ripping up grass, filling up plastic cups with the grass and throwing them. The scene in 300 with the arrows reminds me of all the flying cups. It was crazy but a blast. And primus was there too, I blasted some dude in the pit when they played jerry was a race at driver. Man the 90s were fun.

The one thing I remember from hearing about his death was breaking my remote control. I had just gotten home from golfing and I was flipping through channels and I passed MTV. When I passed it I saw Layne's name in the little crawler at the bottom of the screen so I backed up a few channels to see what it was saying. Then it said ".....found dead in his home". I got so pissed when I saw that I chucked my remote against the wall.

Definitely one of the great things from the 90's....love me some AIC man. Is it bad to say I like a lot of their newer pieces too?

I seen AIC twice here in ireland , first when they played support to megadeath at the Point theater Dublin, they started their set with "it aint like that!
the second time at the SFX centre also Dublin, two of the best gigs of my life, i will never forget Laynes performance of Love hate love, it was perfect, that guy had an amazing set of lungs
and i still miss him:(

Absolutely not! They still got a lot of the things that made them what they were; Great melodies and harmonics, lyrics that are very much introspective and well written, Jerry Cantrell's vocals are more prominent. There's nothing that would say that they've would sound anyway else if all the original members were alive, not a lot of bands that have been active that long can sound so fresh and creative... I miss Layne's voice though, it's a shame he's not around anymore and what happened after the AIC pause...
