Debate of EVO3s shirt design

The key here for this civil debate is not to create division, but unity.

If someone were to recast 501st coins and sell them for money in their own pocket, I would hope the members of the 501st would want to put a stop to it.

If someone were to steal $$ from a fundraiser or charity, I would hope members would want squash that person - publicly.

If someone were to take in a ton of preorder $$$$ and walk away with no product in return, I would hope the memebers of the 501st would publicly tarnish this person, that way other members on other boards would not get burned.

So if someone were to recast a FPH, TF, MOW items, I would really hope that members here would take a STAND and back them up. And once again publicly call those lowly scum bags out - and forever let it be known that they are not welcome to the community.

This stuff of the 501st, we are the 501st. Make a difference.

no you cant recast an image but you can copy it and legally it has not been done if GL himself decided to do so yes he could sue only reason he don't is because our costume is like free advertisements for his movies.....that how ever could always change if GL wakes up on the bad side of the bed one day

i make sure all i buy is from the source....if i want a set of MOW gauntlets i go to MOW if i want BM armor i go to BM......if i don't know a seller i type his name in the search section of this site and i see what others have said....not much else i can do so what wall am i giving them to hide behind

CORRECT!!! I think we should have a list of sellers who are known Re-casters and sellers who don't give you what you paid for....just like i said in the Ruffkin thread

and yes i do know what the difference is but none of us came up with Boba Fett and yet we still make his parts and yet some of us turn a profit (a nice lil profit i might add) on his character and his parts.....

I would agree with you on the price thing, but I have also found builders who aren't all about the price and will do what they can to work with you. Bottom line are you saying that it IS or IS NOT ok to recast those builders props??? Or are you saying that if their price is too high then it is ok to recast that propmakers items?? I just want to get a clear understanding of what you mean.

no no recasting others works is not ok i have great respect for the hours sweat blood and tears they put into there work......
what i said b4 is i dont think announcing it publicly like onna tee shirt would benefit anything...in fact it may shine a bad light on us all

re-casters should definitely be called out and banned...as should dead beat prop makers
 
I hear ya. I have no ill will with you personally at all. You have just stated what prompted the Tshirt in the first place:

I had me a chuckle when I saw this shirt. I heard about it, but when I saw it, yeah.

Good work Andy, I know what effect this shirt was supposed to have, and it looks like it is causing quite a stir in the right direction.

Yeah, hes gonna come after a small time prop maker. To date, ive sold 16 Cody helmets and about 20 Bacara helmets in 4 years. SFP has sold how much unlicensed SW **** on Ebay? And GL hasnt done a thing to VERO any of his auctions. So i really doubt hes gonna come after small fry like myself.

Yeah, there is more you can do. You can help by supporting a change in the charter. Otherwise, you are giving them the "501sts no stance" wall to hide behind.

I am doing my best to come to some sort of agreement or middle ground on the legion boards. We are working on a charter that we can all mostly agree on but we'll see how far that gets. I just hope that the council and the 501st members have a better outlook on this than Albins weak response from yesterday.
