AVP-R Spoilers!!!!!

Well I know a guy who knows a guy so I got to watch the movie yesterday. I thought the movie was pretty good. I have always loved the predator. My only main complaint is there was only one main predator in the movie....though he is the toughest one Ive seen yet!! Loved the hybrid but I wish the fight scene at the end would have lasted longer.

Also, and call me stupid, but am I suppose to know who the girl at the end is when they bring in the case with the predators gun??

Headed to space in the next one??????? Thoughs and opinions please. (y)

This movie was nothing but a "Best Of" Alien and or Predator montage. They took all of the best parts of all of the movies and tried to cram it into one film.

This movie was also not scary nor suspenseful at any given moment. So much action was happening that they never gave you more than a few seconds to build up any fright factor. Sure the gore was fun and the action was fun but all in all, I felt it lacked a bit of substance.

And what the **** was with the last scene?! Are they going to completely ruin these franchises like the ruined the matrix? Who is that asian chick and why did we just learn of her now?!
I know it's not the chick from the first AVP. Not possible considering the timeline.

Overall I give it a thumbs down.

Ok, as I said I haven't seen this, but I meant from the first AVP. Judging by the first 5 minutes online showed it happening directly after the first one. The first AVP is meant to be 10/10/2004, and the way they show the first 5 minutes is right after the pred got back on the ship. Unless it advances in a timeline beyond that?

You are correct. It takes place directly after the first one because they show when the hybrid bursts out of Scar's chest and right after that, since aliens grow at an emormous rate, it attacks the other predator on the ship. They dont show any time gap so it has to be directly after the first one.

Could it be the girl from the first Predator movie? Both she and Dutch survived, so it's possible that she went on to be a part of some anti-Predator division of the government. After all, she had firsthand experience with one.

I thought it was pretty darn good myself.Just to see the pred man on screen again was enough for me, and all those wonderful new toys.Love it.
i would have liked to see a few more preds, but hey the first one only had the one pred so oh well.
I also loved the fact that we finally see their planet.Maybe more of it in the next one.

The woman at the end they called Yutani. In the first AVP movie you met Charles Bishop Weyland.....rich robotics master whom the Bishop android was designed to look like in the Aliens movies

The Weyland-Yutani corporation was the company in all the Aliens films that keeps trying to capture an Alien for military research purposes. The ending of this movie brings us ahead to the future of the first Alien movie.

well, jsut my little two cents. I haven't seen the movie yet. I will, cause I'm W-Y corp slave who can't avoid anything related to my beloved aliens. But as far as the AVP movies go...

They had a PHENOMAL comic to draw from. (See the Dark Horse AvP series. It's well drawn, well storied, great idea and great visuals).

They had TERRFIC video games to draw from. AvP, AvP2 (esp 2 IMHO) had a great storyline.

Paul Anderson RUINED the franchise with the first movie. The whole plot was just...abyssal. and so were the fight scenes. Although, I will admit, seeing my beloved queen up and running and kicking *** was awesome.

Anyway, back to the hive...

Charlie

I thought the movie was great. I was a little a little confused about the end too. I don't remember anyone calling her Yutani. I'll take your all's word for it though. If it is, than that would make alot more sense. All in all I thought it was a great movie! I would agree that there wasn't much, if any suspense, but that's OK. What was with the hybrid reproducing in pregnant women?

I liked it. It was certainly better than AVP.

I really liked that Predator; the Wolf Predator.

I like the fact that they named him after Keitel's character from Pulp-Fiction.

I really didn't like the human story line. I thought it was totally unnecessary to the story. I don't feel the audience as a whole really needed to "relate" to a human character.

...but then again, I wasn't there to "relate" to anyone. I came for the brawl.

Also, I didn't really care for the Predalien. Could someone please explain to me why it was able to lay eggs, multiple eggs from it's mouth into a preggers lady? I didn't get that...

...I also didn't like the ending. If the Predator was there to clean up the mess and leave no evidence, why did the writers feel it was necessary to nuke the whole city and leave no evidence? To me, it just seemed to defeat the purpose of having a Predator there to begin with...

OVERALL:

Predator + blood + guns + Aliens + poor acting + hot chicks = a fun time

Don't go into the theater expecting to see "Citizen Alien" or "Predator's List" and you'll have a little fun.

First part, I don't recall the predaliens ever able to do that...I am guessing they wanted to add an effect without having a queen, because if it was 3 Aliens+Predailien Vs Predator, the movie wasn't going to be as good.

Second part, to answer that question easily...the human factor. The Predator was irrelevant to the factor of the humans, they didn't know really anything about the Predator. Not to mention they didn't even know a Predator was there. This movie in reference to the Alien Saga, is pretty much the point where they see that these aliens could be a excellant bio weapon. So when they saw the race was able to take out a town, they had to gain control of it by eliminating everything. They may have found something left over. The Predator gun was just a technology that they felt they could reverse engineer stuff out of. Learning better technology to better our own.

Hey Hunters,

I had to pop over to Malaysia over the weekend just to catch the movie as Singapore will only be showing it in Jan. 5 hour roadtrip including movie time as the roads were packed!

Anyhow, my 2 cents, overall, a little better with the gore than the first AvP. I mean, what's a Pred and Alien movie without the visceral bloodletting right?

However, the supposed continuity with the first AvP doesn't jive. What happened to the Huge ship that picked up SCAR? And where were the rest of the Predators...I saw at least 12 including the ELDER, at the end of the first AvP...

It was too dark and too up close in your face filming...couldn't see much of the action cept at times, and even those were a blur.

The saving grace was Wolf...Ian Whyte has really improved with playing a Pred. Alot of the grace prevalant with KPH's potrayal is finally seen in Wolf's movements.

The Home world bit was nice, short as it was...and you gotta love the Bio Wall. :)

My take..

Stay safe,

Tim.

I thought the movie was average. The fight scenes were awesome and some reminiscent of "aliens." A few things i would've changed is Jesse not getting killed (very easy on the eyes), predalien laying eggs in women, and the predator skinning the officer. We spend so much time developing the human characters; then having Jesse die was a kick in the face. What was the point? If they were killing off her character, we shouldn't develop her character (also taking precious screen time away from the predator). Common sense and rules we learned in the Predator films didn't seem like they applied here. The Predator was getting rid of evidence of their existence, so why did he leave his prized kill hanging for the humans to find. Also why did he kill the officer if he ran? In the Predator films the audience learned of the Predator's motives for killing. If a prey didn't have a weapon or appeared weak then he/she was unworthy. The officer may of had a gun, but he was definantly running away and not pointing a gun. Anyone agree or disagree?

Saw it on Thursday last week. I went in there expecting a violent, bloody Pred vs. Alien battle to the death, and it didn't disappoint. A lot of the acting from the human characters was laughable, but the Pred should be winning a few awards!

I agree with bobamatt's equation summing up the film:

"Predator + blood + guns + Aliens + poor acting + hot chicks = a fun time"

I actually didn't see it coming when that blonde chick died. I was thinking "Those other guys will come around the corner, shoot the Alien, and rescue the- Woah! Well, I was wrong..."

The ship in the beginning of the movie is the one with SCAR on it. I believe they put him on a smaller ship. Or, that was the ship and they just didn't go into detail about what happened to the ELDER...but I am almost positive that he went on a smaller ship...because when that thing came into the atmosphere and crashed...it was no where near the size of the one that picked up SCAR...purhaps the 2 ships met in space and transfered him over. Or...which is another thing I think happened...they didn't think about the fact that we saw the elder ship picking them up and the makers didn't think people would look that much into it.

There's alot of assumption on the fact that this is what happen Saxter, but as a hardcore Pred/Alien Fan, it would be nice to actually have some proper continuity rather than alot of ifs bro. Still, you paint an interesting alternate continuity format. :)

Fact remains, SCAR was brought onboard the Huge Mothership at the end, and placed in the very same chamber we know that was seen in the huge Mothership from the beginning. And he seems to be in the very same chamber when the 'incident' happened.

Still, it's done with. Wolf was great...and so were the Aliens...but that's it for moi.

Stay safe,

Tim.
