Alternative Scene on the ROTJ Blu-Ray?

RafalFett

Well-Known Hunter
I don't know if somebody noticed (or this is already in one of the early ROTJ releases) but the scene where Han hits by accident Boba's jetpack has an alternate shot with a good close-up of Fett and his already damaged jetpack.

This is the original shot:

And this is the alternate shot:

I just checked the special edition DVD and that close up shot is defiantly not in it. It's also not in the original version either (In Australia, few years back, they released all three original films (Not SE) as a double DVD option with the Special Edition, so you could watch the untouched "cinema" version.) I haven't checked my Videos, but from memory I don't think that shot was in any version of the film, nice pick up Rafal! You Nailed it!

So the add this to the beginning of the shot, then switch back to him being obviously lifted by a wire?
Yet another pointless Bluray "fix".

I don't think this falls under the same category of "Changing something just to change it" I think this is an exception to the silly changes, this actually adds to the scene, a close up then a cut away to the original footage makes the scene more exciting. It cannot be put into the same category of Hayden Chrisiansen at the end of ROTJ etc...

Hmm, I still think EVERYONE that saw it originally knows that the impact triggers the pack.
I can somewhat see your point looking at it from an editing standpoint but it still was not necessary and doesn't add to anything, just inserts another angle of the same thing.
Why not also do the "anime-editing cliche" and show the impact three times for emphasis! :rolleyes

If anything should have been altered, it is his lift-off. Again though, not really needed.

Not meaning to derail but as for Anakin, that was actually not "done just to do it", he made it fit into his reasoning that he would have returned to the way he was before he lost himself. Dumb, yes, but it fits the story. Artoo's ROCK HIDAWAY from ANH, on the other hand (and only in a couple shots:rolleyes), is one of those whimsical changes.

Comming from a Fett Costuming Standpoint, any oppurtunity to see him in different angles, is a +

@ new fett footage, always good imo @ Vader editing, Why wouldn't he appear as he looked once he found his way back to the light side? To me this slides into the "If it ain't broke" department of thought. Some changes I don't mind, some I like, some I hate. None of it is going to ruin my enjoyment of the movies.

The alternate scene is good because it shows the damaged jetpack and a close-up of the helmet's back and the stunt back plate. Maybe it is a not needed change, but any new angle is a good angle if Boba is in it. I'm already waiting the new scenes... whenever they will appear.

It's damaged in the club scene too. When he rubs the chin of the girl. U see it as he turns to walk away from her.

Well, all the ROTJ SE scenes were made with the damaged jetpack and an image was posted on another thread. It was this image:
