Hey all,
Here is how I created my gauntlets. Hopefully I can help someone else out.
Started off with a set of RKD (RedKryatDragon) gauntlets.
Used this guide to get the general idea of how to assemble them, however I didn't do clam shells. Instead I glued strips of sintra on the inside of the gauntlet to hold the parts together and then bondo'd over the main seams.
Paint and sand:
Next up was paint, I used rattle cans. More specifically Rustoleum Claret Wine.
First up was to mask off what I want to stay silver. For this I use toothpaste and a paint brush. Not a big fan of masking fluid myself.
After a coat of paint and toothpaste I get something that looks pretty close in my opinion.
Ignore the color difference between the far left and middle, my camera was being weird. You can see the color is much closer when compared to the far right.
Now to attach some of the detail parts also provided by RKD (the buttons are wrong in the below photo, just stay with me, I got them at radioshack as place holders).
The hoses I got from Lowes, a few feet of chemical tubing, I believe it was 3/8th inch but I could be wrong.
At this point I was done for a few months while I researched more for the fine details, such as the buttons and switches (and a light!).
Turns out RKD was doing the same and ordered a few sets of accurate switches, lights, and buttons so I placed my order and waited impatiently.
A little bit later and bam! (Again my camera makes the red look weird, it's much closer in real life).
Sure they aren't perfect but hey, for the resources available to me I'd say they are pretty good.
Now I just hope there wasn't something I missed...........
