When attaching armor with grommets

SO I have read thought the threads on armor attachment and I think I am going to grommet method, however I have a little problem. I've searched and serached, but I can't seem to find the size grommets most people use. Can someone please tell me the size grommets you use for armor attachment?

Thanks.

I can't remember the size I used but I has the screws in hand when I bought the grommets. So I picked a size that allowed the thread of the screw to pass through but not the head. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I'm sure you could go smaller (it's really just what I had on hand) - The main thing is to make sure the heads of the bolts are bigger than the opening in the grommets (or use washers) otherwise when you tighten the bolts, pressure is put on the back of your armor and will put stress on your epoxy or JBweld and potentially pull the bolt off the armor. Good Luck!

I agree with Stormtrooperguy, whatever works for you. I just chose the grommet and bolt method for the fact that it was real secure. But keep in mind, it will add weight to your flack vest. If I were to do it again, I would maybe explore velcro. Sewing on velcro to the flack vest just seemed like more work for me than the grommets..... (I'm horrible at sewing, and I think my significant other was fed up with helping me with all the other soft parts for my Fett)...hahaha.

Snaps are pretty common. The problem with snaps and velcro is that the armor then is raised up a bit off the vest, due to the thickness of the connectors. With the bolts/grommets, the armor is REALLY tight to the vest, which gives it a really nice look.

I was lazy, I didn't even use grommets. I just punched holes and put the bolts through and big washers on the insides.

What about using aluminum sheeting for the plates, countersunk blind rivets and snaps to hold it to the under vest? Thats what I'm probably gonna do with my next set.
