weathering flak vest

Been searching the site yet can't find good pics of weathered vests. May be a silly question, but since most of it is actually covered with armour, how much weathering is actually necessary?

It definitely needs weathering. And it needs it in equal amounts to the other soft parts and hard armor. There is quite a bit of weathering on the flak vest and it is one of the parts that is often overlooked. When it is done right you barely notice it but when it is not done it shines like a new penny and looks way out of place.

I did mine with an airbrush btw.

Agreed. If you have a grey tackle twill vest like bat ninja's you don't need much because the darker color grey is already there. You will just want to give it enough inconsistency to make it look worn. If it's a clean white tackle twill vest you'll want to weather it pretty evenly to a light grey and also give it inconsistency. An airbrush works well for this allowing you to thin the pain well which also allows the sheen of the tackle twill to remain even when darker. I use acrylic flat black watered down.
