Vest Fabric Interest Thread [limited time offer]

Great news guys! Based on the total yardage I see so far, we've got enough for their minimum order. I am going to put a deadline on this offer for midnight Friday night (2/21) so that we can get this order made next week. Payment will need to be made prior to the order itself (I don't have the cash to front this deal for everyone). I am working out those details now, but PayPal will probably be the best way to go. If you don't have a PayPal account, we can probably wait for a money order.

What is the concensous on the neck fabric? The same material or different? I think the neck material is more of a silky material myself, but I am open to anyone's opinions. Here is a better shot of the vest.

This is freaky material. Up close the "grain" is very obvious but from just a few inchec back is disappears and lookd smooth and slick, thus the confusion.

I have to agree that the fabric is the same. Brak's described the material perfectly. The fabric closest the camera will have that grain. But as the focus falls back just a bit, you can see that the neck and the vest share the same "slick" look. I'll have to find the photo again, but the best pics to illustrate this effect are MOM/AOSW pics that have a part of the vest in the immediate foreground and the vest/neckseal area in the backround.

C17LM beat me to the punch with that pic. After I looked at the neckpiece material really, really close, I too am very confident that they are one and the same, just different shades of gray. Therefore, I would recommend to order at least 2-1/2 to 3 yds to make sure you've got enough for the neckpiece. If you've already posted an amount above and you want to up your order, just edit your post as I will not make the official list until after the deadline.

Hey BF, how's shipping going to work on this? Are you having all the fabric shipped to you so you can cut it up and send it? Or something different? Just checking.

The bulk amount will be shipped to one location, cut into the desired amounts, then shipped out to everyone. S&H is going to be $5.00 within the U.S. which should also cover the PayPal fees. Overseas and Canadian orders will be a bit more, but the exact amount won't be known until it ships.

I'd like to get 4 yards . . . enough for vest, neck, and gloves for myself and a few extra pairs gloves.

A few people have asked me if they could get gloves made to spec if the correct material was ever found. I guess that time is now. :)

Do you have the exact 'name' of the material? I think I'm going to be in on this one as well. I will do a little creative financing and probably throw my name into the hat before the end of the day.

How wide is the material? 60 inches? 45?

Just a note: Most of the vests I've sewn, I've used the same material inside and out, for continuity purposes. For those not familiar with pattern cutting, you might be able to lay the patterns onto the fabric in such a way as to have enough material for TWO vests, if you use a different material for the inside. I've always wanted to have two vests onhand for those really humid two-day conventions.

That's why I asked about the width of the fabric. 45 inches would work, but 60 would ROCK.

I'm not sure of the exact width of the fabric as they only sent a small sample. I was under the impression that there was a set standard width for bolts of fabric, but I don't know if it is 45, 60, or ??? We'll send them an email and see if we can find out.
