General Touch-up paint

New Hunter
My recently completed armor is feeling the wear of several troops, and I will soon need to touch-up the paint on the chest armor plates and jetpack. Problem is that the paint I had originally used for the armor is no longer being sold. Can anyone recommend either a touch-up paint, or a currently available spray paint brand with good a color match to the ROTJ green and blue? Thanks.

Boris

I personally cant help you being my lack of knowledge of different paints and brands, but you are lacking a very important part of you question for someone to help you out accurately.

What was your orginal paint brand and paint code or name that you used?

This can help because not all brands have the exact same colors. Similar, but may be the smallest shade difference which can probably be noticed on something that is being touched up. That paint may need some white to lighten it up or black to darken it. This forum has a vast knowledge of everything Boba Fett related. Good luck

The original paint was Rust-oleum brand, but a satin emerald green and true blue which are no longer being produced - the claret red in satin is still available. The majority of paints these days are gloss, which makes the bits look inconsistently shiny for a ROTJ kit. It seems likely that I will simply have to repaint at some point in the future to achieve a uniform color, and so this leaves the question open to suggestions of which paint is favored these days? Thanks again.

Boris

I would love to know too as I would like to paint the inside of my armor pieces. I don't like seeing the white on the underside.

I found the Humbrol basic airbrush kit for around $20 which allows use of compressed air canisters, rather than having to purchase a compressor. I will give it a try when all the material arrives.

Boris.

ive heard for small projects the compressed air cans system works fairly well. I think for touch ups it may be the way to go if you dont plan on doing a whole lot of painting.
