SHOW OFF: Grungie's ESB Blaster

Active Hunter
G'Day TDH, It's been really hot over the past week or so here in Melbourne, but today the heat eased off, and I had a few hours to finally finish my Blaster. The photos are not perfect, but you get the idea. My Kit or Strap never came with anything to fix the strap to the stock or the handle, so I had to improvise with a hook. It works, but I'd like to upgrade to a better way to have the strap mounted. Anybody have any spare parts that would work better? I dry Brushed the scope and surrounding areas to give it a used look. I had a few problems with the build, but it was a great learning curve. When I find my charger for my digital camers I'll try and take some better pics, but for now, the old I=phone camera will have to do. anyway, hope you enjoy the pics, as always any comments are welcome. Dave.

It was a kit I bought from a user here on TDH He said it was a stormrider kit. It's a Wood Stock. I used clear enamel spray to make the stock shinny. I also used this great stuff called "Primer Filler" it comes in a spray can, so whenever I had to sand something back after gluing something in place, and it left marks all over it, I just sprayed the primmer filler on there, and then did another couple of coats of mat black spray paint and it would come up a treat! anything else you'd like know? ;)

Nice work G42! any problems getting the EE3 blaster through the customs, heard that aust is pretty tight on replica like here in singapore

The blaster looks good and you did an excellent job with it. There are a couple of things that could make your blaster more accurate (but these are cosmetic adjustments). The first one is the lighter color of the handle grip and the second one is the wood stock's chopped off end:

No problems at all, it was in kit form, so all the parts were bubble wrapped separately, so customs had no drama at all.

Nearly as nice as mine:D....Nice work mate!

ha ha! thanks mate!

Wood stock? Nice! Good job G42 (y)

G42? I like that!

hmmmm, I don't think I want to attempt cutting that off the wood stock, I had trouble fixing the wood stock to the plastic mount, so if I try and hack into it, I'd probably break the stock off. you can tell it's cut off in the pic where he has the blaster facing downwards, but when it's up right, I can't really notice it chopped off. as for the colour of the handle, any idea what it is? ;)

Another angle of the chopped off wood stock:

In some images the handle color is close to the right ear's color (earth enamel), but with a gold-like shade:

I guess I could dremel the **** out of the stock, to cut away a part off the top, but it will be one of those jobs I'll have to be in the right mood to do, I just know it's going to be tough. The colour definatly looks gold in those pics...hmmmm I'll have to try and colour match as close as I can with these reference photos, as always, thanks Raf, you are the best.

The grips for the S&W were made with brass, that's why it has that goldish look to it. I would suggest to use Rub 'n Buff Gold Leaf to give it some metalic/gold accents.

Thanks! I am more an observer than an active builder, and my help is mostly theoretical, while others more experienced will help you with the practical help... Ex: KaanE.

Ha ha, you guys are classic! I guess when you see somebody putting effort into something, you're more likely to give them advice, I see "Newbie" threads on here all the time, but 9 times out of 10 they just post here once, then never come back. So it really is a small community on here of "active" members. as always, very cool of you guys to offer advice, it makes the whole process a lot more fun. right on! Dave.

I know that when you finish a project, then someone came and say
you know, you could add this and that, or you can change this and that
is sometimes annoying, but remember that these small changes and additions make your work to look accurate and true. The big difference between most of the Sci-Fi movies is the lack of attention to details, this is why Star Wars was/is/will be a smashing hit: those involved in this huge project did an excellent job and they put a larg amount of attention in all the props and costumes, making all this believable.

Nice work on the blaster so far, I can't wait to see it in action with the rest of your gear! :D

it's gonna be an epic build time line, all my armour and helmet is yet to arrive, I probably won't get everything for months, the GMH is the one piece I'll be waiting the longest I'm assuming. but it gives me time to finish the parts that do arrive... ;)
